XBox Live Superior to PSN according to Microsoft (I’m Shocked Microsoft Would Say That!)
Robbie Bach, President of Microsoft’s Entertainment and Devices Division, has dismissed rival Sony’s online efforts with its PlayStation Network service, claiming it offers no competition to Microsoft’s own Xbox live.
“It’s fair to say that Xbox Live is clearly head and shoulders above anything anyone else has tried to do. We don’t have competition,” Bach told the LA Times this week.
Aside from acknowledging Sony’s effort with PlayStation Network, Bach was fairly dismissive of it as a whole, claiming it can’t be considered a service to consumers.
“Sony has done some things online, but nothing that can be called a service. We have a big advantage and we’re going to keep pressing that advantage,” he said.
Bach neglected to mention anything regarding the upcoming PlayStation Home service, a large, social-based virtual environment that is currently scheduled to launch next spring.

live is good and is in many ways better than what sony currently offers however it should be considering the head start they had.
The PSN is getting much better and i dont think it will belong till it is a proper rival to that of live. And one thing that is important is that PSN is free
Most people only see PlayStation Network as the store. The network is the whole online service. Being able to talk to your friends is part of the service.
But I’m not suprised Microsoft would say that. They have a god complex. I mean.. it is an okay system, but.. nah.
I’m lucky enough to use both and IMO XBL is way better. I want Sony to really pick up on PSN but they’ve not had the same time as MS so I’ll give them chance.
I’m not surprised MS stated what they have, there really kissin their own ass at the mo with this whole XBL is 5 thing. But I dont think Sony would be any different if the situation was the other way round. I mean just look how big headed they got with the PS2!!

$50 a year is nothing for the service and fun you get with Live. Yea they had a head start but give credit for not tripping while ahead,. Microsoft also has been pretty humble up until this point. They usually don’t take the opportunitys to boast. Im surprised at his comments as well. But he does speak the truth.
Oh come on please! The only reason why MS is saying this is because they know Sony is finally picking up the slack with their library of games. Ok yes think! One thing would you rather pay $50 a year or pay nothing what so ever? Second of all this is Sony’s first real online service. How long has MS had one? Pretty much since day one (not quite but long enought). Plus with what Sony is coming out with in the near future is going to spank Live. Home and what it’s dragging along; all of the free content that you can access. Yes granted I did spend a few more dollars then what 360 owners did in the short term. I have Linux Ubuntu installed on it and use it daily as a computer. Yes I have a laptop and a desktop but it’s more convenient to just switch OS’s simuntaniously. Yes I do realize this article is just about the online services but come on people wake up and smell the roses. I understand why people at first didn’t want to spend the money. But since the recent price drop and the astonishing games coming out very soon, plus the new DualShock 3. How can you go wrong!? Oh yeah did I also mention the first and most obvious reason? Blu-ray!!!!!!!! Why in the hell would someone want to buy a system they know they have a 50/50 chance of having the pos dieing? One last thing is the clear hardware power advantage the PS3 has over the 360. Yes people “could” argue that the 360 had a graphical advantage of lets give an example. Madden 08 ran 60 fps and on the PS3 it didn’t. But now that the PS3 has been out longer and developers have been able to create better graphics engines most of the new titles are now running at 60 fps or really close to it. Look at Ratchet and Clank Future: Tool of Destruction. Gorgeous game, crap lots going on all the time and runs at 60 fps perfectly fine. I think I’ve made my point very clearly. And I expect to have pissed off many many 360 owners but sooner or later when they’ll have to blow money on a new system in a few short more years because the 360 isn’t capable of keeping up with the demand of high intensity graphics (unlike the PS3) then that’s when I’ll be in my room playing my first gen PS3 just like my first gen PS2 and PS1 and saying, I TOLD YOU SO!!!!!!
Kyle thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! somebody finally see’s this from my point of view cause quite frankly th 360 is done it’s about to have another thing comin. and those 360 fanoys, and the people at microsoft better listen up and listen up good, no matter how good people say the 360 is it’s goonna be about a 80% chance that most 360 owners will eventually want a ps3 and will not even look at the 360 anymore ya know why cause like sony said there in it for the long run, the lifespan is very long and yur gonna see how the ps3 is very powerful in just 4 more weeks. ps3 is the future so get used to it.

Sony’s been working on that online service since mid PS2 generation. Stop acting like they didn’t have ample time.
