What really happened to PS3 Boomerang Controller

Ever wondered what happened to futuristic PS3 boomerang controller? Sony has never officially stated why they reverted back to Dual Shock controller now known as “SixAxis”.
Computerandvideogame.com has recently stated in an article that Teiyu Goto, a man who designed Playstation consoles in the past, revealed the truth behind PS3 boomerang controller which was heavily criticized by the industry when it was illustrated during E3 in 2005.
Mr. Goto in an interview with Official Playstation Magazine said “Quite frankly, we had set aside the ergonomic aspect in favour of the image it conjured up. We wanted to present an avant-garde model for the show, running a risk of being criticised.” Furthermore he added, “It was very futuristic visually, but practically speaking you only had to hold it to realise how it compared to the Dual Shock 2. You know there are so many players who are used to the PlayStation controller; it’s like a car steering wheel and it’s not easy to change people’s habits.”
In a nutshell, what it boils down to is that practicality of the controller and the transition to new controller were the issues why Sony went back to Dual Shock 2 controller. I strongly believed that new controller will not break or make the system. Sony should of focused more on launching more games instead!!
