Video Downloads On Your PS3 (Rumor)
That’s right sports fans - the venerable PS3 is going to be getting video downloads according to reliable sources like the Wall Street Journal and Financial Times (you have to trust a paper that’s daring enough to be printed on pink paper).
According to these two newspapers, Sony will unveil video downloads as part of the revamped PSN Store, due to be available in April. This is most likely what president Howard Stringer is talking about when he discusses “expanding the PlayStation Network”.
The first movies released will be, surprise surprise, movies from Sony’s library (Oh please let it be Ernest Goes to Camp!). This and other details were revealed at the Destination PlayStation conference last week in Scottsdale, Arizona (no coincidence the conference was held at the same time as Spring Baseball is played in Scottsdale). Sony showed off a portion of the video store to attendees.North America is slated to get the store first with other regions to follow.

Why would sony do this? would this not have a dirrent impact on Blu-ray disc sales. Essencially they are competing against themselves.
