Ubisoft announces Ghost Recon: Future Soldier

Ghost Recon

It’s official; Ubisoft is producing another tactical military shooter to add to its growing gameography (yes, we know that’s not a real word, but if terms like ‘filmography’ and ‘discography’ can be used why not?).

Future Soldier, which is being developed by the same award-winning team that brought us Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter, will be the next game in the well-known Ghost Recon FPS series, and is scheduled for worldwide release before the end of 2010.

Gamers can grab an exclusive invitation for this summer’s multiplayer beta by purchasing Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Conviction, which releases on April 16th. However, the beta is Xbox-only at present, and the fact Ubisoft isn’t prepared to talk other formats yet (believe us, we asked) makes us wonder if Future Soldier will reach the PS3. We’re convinced exclusivity and Microsoft’s deep pockets are loosely connected.

Hopefully more details will come soon. In the meantime, ignore our cynicism and have a read of the official press release below.
