The Top 5 Excuses not to buy an Xbox 360 this Christmas
Top 5 Excuses not to buy Xbox 360
The top 5 excuses from gamers not to buy xbox 360 seem a little harsh, but the reality of it is during the next peak buying quarter these are reasons that are being considered by gamers when choosing their console of choice,
1. “The makers of the Xbox 360 should have listened to us gamer geeks when we said to wait to release the new 360,now we have a half-a** unit compared to the PS3. Xbox only took a half step in advancement with this unit, I mean look at what a difference the original Xbox made in the gaming industry, I expected a whole lot more out of the 360 and as far as I can see all you get is the slightly enhanced graphics. I could care less about being able to look at pictures or routing it to my computer, what I and I think others wanted was a High-Def gaming console capable of 1080i or p through the use of an HDMI cable and not have to purchase a separate dvd player for watching movies in High-Def and it doen’t even have the HDMI come on xbox get with the times. Realy xbox, you really need to make up for this big boo-boo. In a big way and quick, unless your trying to get out of the gaming indusrty.â€
2. “I was a die hard x-box 360 gamer until I got the three red lights of death on my 360 and my warranty is expired so in order to fix it the microsoft techs said I have to pay $140.00 for a system that cost me $400, I took excellent care of,
and only lasted about a year. I have no intention of spending another dime on something that has cost me so much money and lasted a little over a year! I will never by another X-box again and I will strongly urge my friends and family to not purchase any of their systems. Hopefully in the future they will make a better quality product.â€
3. I like the system. When I got it I was excited to get it home and play it. It has alot of great games out for it now not to mention the halo 3 beta. Now i do hate the “microtransactions” I think if you’re paying for the service you should get free downloads or at least a certain number of free “premium” downloads a month. And i hate the fact that none of the movies are for sell. They’re all rentals for 3 days. Tv shows are great to buy but I wanna buy movies too. The main thing I don’t like about the 360 is reliability. True, your launch units are the ones that are going to have the problems but if you’re still having those same problems a year and a half after your launch then something is wrong. I got my 360 in march. I only played it a couple of hours a day during the week (went out on weekends) and the unit gave me the 3 red lights after only 3 weeks….when I called microsoft they gave me a repair time of 6 weeks. 6 weeks? 6 weeks of wasted money on xbox live while I look at all of my accessories getting dusty from not being used? So i returned the unit to the store, got another one and got the extended warranty from the store. At least with the store it replaces the unit the same day.
4. I own PS2,PS3, Xbox, Xbox360, Gaming PC, Nintendo cube and PSP and over 200 gaming title for the last 7 years. So before I make my comments, I know what I am talking about, not favoring any system or talking bad about it without a valid reason. Xbox360 and Ipod is nothing more than just a hype and advertising power at work, if you have enough money all system are the same,I end up spending more on xbox360 accessory, price wise PS3 and XB360 same. The main different between xb360 and PS3 is that you have to be extra stupid to pay for Xbox live to play online, maybe Xbox live member don’t know playing online for free via PS3 or PC. I feel so dump buying an Ipod where I can’t even manage my own media without plug in to my PC, can’t even do a simple task as to delete a song, Microsoft what is up with you nerd, what is a nerd without control. So people becareful with Window vista, all these years everyone fail to see doesn’t matter what OS you are running if you only run the application needed your PC will never crash that’s another issue another day….
5. Not enough USB ports, especially on the back
As I said, there’s only one USB port on the back, and in a lot of cases, that’s going to be tied up with the USB Wi-Fi accessory. That leaves only the two USB ports on the front left available to plug in such accessories as the video camera (coming soon). Toss in another wired controller, and your 360 is full up–and looking untidy, with wires sprouting from the front.

My three main reasons buying a PS3 instead of the 360 is reliability, feature, and genre.
The article already takes care of reliability very well. I couldn’t be happier with how well the PS3 performs. I often forget to shut it off during the summer with 98 F in door mucky weather and it was still running fine the next morning. This is something you need. I never once had to perform a power cycle on the system, there is not crashes or hang ups ever.
The 360 is more or less a stripped down pc running DX9 with an interesting hyper threaded tri core, which runs quite hot. It still uses DVD, and even its HD-DVD addon can’t be used for games. The PS3 comes with Blu Ray and uses it for everything. Adding your own hard drive can’t be done (without voiding the warranty), you need to use Microsoft’s 120GB add on for $100 dollars, while for the PS3 you can just buy a 200 GB one online for $100 and install it yourself using the instruction the manual provides. If you buy the new 360 SKUs with the HDMI and revised heatsink (which will hopefully solve the red rings) and add in a HD-DVD add-on, it still costs more the PS3 even after the price drop.
The last reason was the genre of games on the 360. I love RPGs and none has it better the the PS series: FF, Dark Cloud, Shadow Hearts, Disgaea, and so many more. The 360 just recently got Blue Dragon and I watched my friend rent it and play it, and the over the top voice dub with the boring characters really got to me. It’s like watching dubbed anime with a young weak main character yelling “I won’t give up!” every other scene. Microsoft’s weak connection the the Japanese developers is the main problem I think, because that’s where the best RPGs come from.
Those are my reasons at least. I’m sure there are more, such as the contradiction Microsoft has at promoting the 360 and Vista games at the same time, often hurting the other while doing so.
My 3 main reasons for buying a 360 and a Wii rather then a PS3 were
1 you can get both of them for about the same price as a PS3 together.
2 I love the games on there
3 And cos I didn’t rush to get my 360 I got one of the debugged ones rather then release date consoles and I haven’t had a red-ring problem (and I’m also lovin’ halo 3, Gears and of course lost planet)
i apoligise if this post annoyed you but I have the right to an opinion
I own all 3 of the next gen consoles as well. As of today I rank them as follows:
#1 Xbox 360
#2 Wii
#3 PS3
I’m mainly a RPG and a Race Sim gamer. The 360 keeps me happy with those. The Wii is for casual stuff, my wife and I really enjoy playing with and against each other on it, all in all it’s very fun to play for a couple hours every now and again. The fun factor is through the roof.
I was actually let down by the cheap menu system of the PS3, yeah it works for the PSP… but this is a console that goes on my TV. Maybe I had high expectations becasue the root Menu system of the 360 is so genius.
Albiet, my console rankings might change drastically once GTHD and FFXIII are released, but untill then.. the PS3 doesn’t really have anything that an RPG/Racing Gamer needs. Pretty much all of the racing games out right now on the PS3 are on the 360 as well.. and I know it may sound stupid but I’m addicted to Achievements and enjoy competing with friends for a high gamer score. So my $60/racing game will probly be spent on the 360 side.
This holiday season looks bleak for RPG fans on the PS3 Bandwagon. I have Folklore comming in the mail so we’ll see how that turns out, but it definately doesn’t look like must have game to shell out $500 for a console to play on. Blue Dragon on the other hand is. Most RPG gamers will wait to buy a PS3 untill FFXIII is out.. and quite frankly that’s the facts.
I rank the three systems as follows
#1 : PS3
#2 : 360 & Wii
I gave ranked the same 360 and Wii because I don’t really think they can beat the PS3. The 360 has some really good games but won’t compare to the ones coming to PS3. The Wii is really good for people that like playing with the family and friends. Otherwise if you plan to buy one for your enjoyment I rather believe you should get a PS3 or 360 depending on how much you are willing to spend.
Navi just about every game coming out on ps3 is coming out on the 360 and your reason for putting the 360 and wii together just doent make sense. hey just now i have a 360 but im gettin a ps3 for xmas in my opinion there both great for me its all about the games. I dont care if i cant watch blue ray movies there dear and ill just buy them in normal definition. what ever happened to the good old days where people were arguing over games not the consoles
I sense a flame war on this blog coming…..
i sense a flame war too, but in my opinion, xbox 360 is better…..FOR NOW.
Ps3 will get better eventually, it’s just technicly better in the long run.
it depends on what you get first too.
i got a ps3 too.
kicka**………
and i do miss the good old days when we just argued over games….
my only reson for getting the ps3 is price, that sounds dumb, but im in canada at the moment and i come from new zealand, there alot cheeper here to buy, so i picked one up, i hear the cry from the back, a 360 is cheeper here too i know. but once i go home i need to import games from north america to play them, ps3 is region unlocked, along with user upgradeable Serial ata harddrives, a controler i can use on my computer games with ease, a build in web browser and free online gameing. well played sony, well played
ps3 in my opinion is blowing the 360 out of the water. I have both and i never play the 360 anymore. Im sick of crashes and i canceleed my xbox live. - waste of money. If you want to watch an HD movie on the 360 you have to spend another $180 just for an extra drive whitch you cant even play games in. And in my opinion the 360’s start up area sucks. Games on ps3 are in 1080p and look killer!. The amount of new games for the ps3 is awesome. and the browser for ps3 is awesome. The only good thing about xbox is halo 3….. that would be literally it. What else can u sau about it?
I bought a ps3 because at the time i was thinking about the future. The xbox 360 doesn’t supply the future as much as the ps3. One might think “it has Halo 3 so i’m going to buy it” but thats the wrong choice. I doubt any xbox360 out there today will last until 2010, lol
I would rank as the following:
1.PS3
2.Wii
3.Xbox
4.PS2
5.PSP
6.DS
7.Xbox360
And before you say anything, I do own them all. I have played for over 100 hours on each.
The PS3 wil work and does as u want to 2, but the Xbox360 is sooo Mircosoft. I have got through 2 consoles and fear the 3 red lights, it is so unraliable
You know, there’s a 1 in 3 chance (offical value, not made up) your XBOX 360 will break in the first year, and this chance increases after the first year.
“Sure” you say, “I’ll get the Elite system instead” but i actually have to LOL when i hear the break rate for the Elites in almost EXACTLY the same.
Well done microsoft, on using advertising power and the promise of a new HALO game alone to sell a Half-a**ed system that is extremely likely to break, and has no FREE online or anything.
Yeah, goes to show PS3 is wayy better. I let my brother watch a couple movies on the PS3 and after he was done he forgot to turn it off, and I didn’t notice until about 2 weeks later. Even after being on for 2 weeks it’s still running fine, and I’m still fragging noobs on CoD4
So what if the menu screen is a little basic or the price is a little high the ps3 is still the best system not only cause of the blu-ray but also the great level of reliability plus the free online play as well as the fact that the xbox doesnt event have its own wifi antanna or even a simple web browser. And on top of all taht you know the xbox only owners are gonna be complaining when ffxiii and Metal gear 4 come out those games alone make up for the few flaws people keep trying to fin on the PS3
the 360 just breaksdown yeah it has decent games, but if the system doesnt work what does it matter? ps3 is a great system with great games. some may say that the ps3 is pricey but an 80 gb with metal gear 4 cost 499 the elite 360 with a 120 gb and no bluray or hddvd costs 449 and it doesnt include a game. and in the long run xbox live costs roughly 60 dollars a year but the end of year 1 the 360 elite costs 509 without a game. and wii is a different type of console family/kid friendly…..Mgs4 june12
You guys fail to see the point, you repeat the ps3’s feature again and again and again durability.
Besides the fact that your retarded cause xbox360 has HD and HDMI cables that come with it lol??
Not to mention if you only care about playing for more then 6 hours without burning out i dont think we want a no-lifer on our 360 anyway.
psst it has hdvd plug in the right cable’s and stop trying to make a system that’ll wipe your ass.
All this and the fact that the processing power of the dwarfs that of the 360. EACH of the SIX cell broadband engines has the ability to process 300 mp3s simotaneously, in real-time.
AND, believe it or not, the cell broadband engine is the most powerful commercial processor on earth at the moment.
Its the kind of chip that could put a cruise missle up the ass of a camel from a couple hundred miles out.
What about the obvious blu ray disk space? Remember when everyone was saying that its too big and you’ll never be able to use it? Too much space is better than not enough, cause of the rules set in place by microsoft, the quality of certain games will suffer.
