Last week, a number of popular rumours about the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto IV (GTA IV) being delayed yet again began to surface amongst the gaming community, supported by claims made by Take-Two chairman Strauss Zelnick. Since then, Zelnick has confirmed that the rumours of a delay aren’t true, and that the game is still on for it’s Q1 2008 release window.

In his statement, Zelnick re-affirmed that GTAIV will make the Q1 2008 release window previously announced a few months ago, despite previous contradictory remarks stating that it would not be released until Rockstar is “utterly convinced” it’s complete.

“I wasn’t intending to be newsworthy,” Zelnick explained. “When asked about the release date, I confirmed the previous release date we’d given, which is our second fiscal quarter. That’s to say sometime between the beginning of February and the end of April.”

Although Zelnick has stated the game’s release is still on track, he couldn’t provide any sort of concrete date, “Obviously we want to make sure not to disappoint anyone, and we’re going to give that date as soon as we feel very comfortable that we know the exact date within that three-month period that we outlined.”
