Square Enix: The company is focusing on multiformat
Square Chief Executive Yoichi Wada has said that his company will focus on multiformat gaming to reflect the diversity of the games market.
Speaking to the Financial Times, Wada said “In the old days, we could just focus on the PlayStation or the Game Boy, but the environment has changed completely.”
According to Wada, “There is a new breed of gamers in the market” and as such, Square has to “to make games for all kinds of people” if it is to remain as successful as it has been.
So far, Square has been spreading itself out across the various formats that are available at the moment, with games such as Dragon Quest IX in development for the DS and The Last Remnant due to appear on the PS3 and 360 this year.
P.S. Just to inform you guys that in the past Square has made the same statement and instead of making games for Nintendo, they did exclusives such as Final Fantasy series on PS2.
Eventually Square Enix, depends on the console sales of PS3, will do the same!
