Sony to start download service on PS3
In a move to become the center piece of home entertainment system, Sony will roll out movie and TV download service for PS3. Phil Harrison, Sony?s president of Worldwide studios, has reiterated Sony?s intention to become more than just video game console. He pointed out the advantages of having built in hard drive in every PS3 as well as larger capacity in the interview. Sony is trying to directly challenge Xbox 360?s download service via Xbox Live video service. Also, Sony has already started selling downloads for their PSP in direct competition to Apple?s itune service. Sony has yet to announce the date and pricing scheme for the multimedia downloads.
