Sony pushing different marketing strategy in UK
Sony is planning to veer away from traditional marketing strategy in Europe for its PS3 release. Sony will be taking the guerrilla marketing approach. They will concentrate on social networking sites such as Myspace.com and YouTube. Also, Sony has designated 12 different individuals and organization to create original contents for PS3 advertisement. The groups range from club promoters, artists, fashion insiders, Dazed and Confused magazine, and BBC?s 1Xtra. Sony Computer Entertainment UK marketing director, Alan Duncan, states that traditional marketing strategy is not enough to convey PS3?s advantages. I’m not sure if marketing is what’s holding PS3 from exploding sales.
