Sony May Be Planning To Charge Subscription Fee For MAG

mag survey

It appears as if some PlayStation Underground members have received e-mails in a survey form. Inside the survey you will find 15 questions, all related to payment plans for the Massive Action Game - not only does it look like there will be a monthly/yearly payment, they may also be charging for the add-on content too! If this is finalised, then I may be forced to miss out on this game; personally, I am quite insulted by subscription fees, especially if you purchase the game, and the download content as well. We’ll stay tuned for any more information, and hopefully this will end up not being the case. The potential this game has is unbelievable!

  1. I am insulted with what you say,, you are insulted because the ask for a payment for a huge servers, and you are not insulted with Microsoft making you pay to even play online. That just wrong.

  2. I agree with Handsome_Devil on this one, but on the other hand it would be better to not to pay for playing that game considered how the PSN is FREE.

  3. @ Handsome_Devil: If I had an Xbox 360, I would be offended if I were to play for Live. Please quote me where I said that I’m “not insulted with Microsoft”.

What I believe, and this is similar to AKooL’s point - the PSN is free for a reason, it’s a selling point. The moment one game starts charging a subscription fee, more will follow suit.

  4. ARE YOU ALL INSANE?!? The fact that people have been charged so little for excellent things, it’s one of the greatest features of the PS3!!! Sure, I can understand how expensive it must be to manage such massive amounts of sever data, but you people act like the game itself is free and that everything else must be paid for. There are at least 5 million people (myself included) eagar to buy this game, multiply that by about $60 for the game price and is a hell of a lot of money, I think the company will be set for while after initial sails. ($300,000,000 will be the estimated initial profits.)

  5. Guess it depends on how much it is.. 10$ a year, I can deal with.. 1-3$ per addon, no biggie.. etc.. but over 10$ a month and more than 3$ or so is not acceptable.. (depending on what kind of addon it is too, expansions, I can pay more for, etc) Overall I dont mind bleeding a little green for something if its truely worth it, but I guess we’ll see when the beta hits :)

  6. @StevieK08: I understand what you mean, but at the same time lets understand the servers do need maintenance all time and good care for the game to live longer, and give us a better game play. and honestly if that means I should pay a little bit more to get a great game to play with I do accept that fact.

if its going to worth what I’m gonna pay for and live long enough, that would make me feel my money didn’t go for nothing, sure then I accept the payments.

am I right with this ?

  7. Yeah paying for online play would suck, but seriously would you guys mind paying 50, 60 or even 70 dollar per year to get an great online experience? i wouldn’t mind, i already spent 500+ on my ps3 whats another 50 or 60 dollars.

  8. @Prateek,

50-70 dollars is alot, but its 60 euros in Europe, thats 90 dollars, its 40 pounds in UK, thats 90 dollars also, XBL is a good online service, but its not worth the ATLEAST 50 bucks per year compared to PSN wich is free

i hope they wont charge for it, but i wont mind paying small fee’s

  9. With most next-gen games at rrp of £49.99 in the UK (around $100 if you were to convert it into dollars for the US bt somehow US gamers pay around $60 - bout 30 QUID!?!). If sony want to mess with scuscription fees and purchasing DLC which is stupid (except for home, of course which will improve gamers enjoyment)
