Are you a valued PlayStation Network user? If you, like me, have received an email containing a promotional voucher code for an exclusive God of War III demo, chances are the answer is a profound 'yes'. The folk at Sony Computer Entertainment are clearly feeling generous today, as they appear to be treating select PS3 owners to a 2671MB glimpse of this long-awaited title.

After being betrayed by the entire Ancient Greek world, Kratos begins a perilous quest to destroy Olympus and the mighty Zeus armed with the deadly Blades of Chaos, taking on some of mythology’s darkest creatures in the process. Sounds exciting, doesn’t it?

I’m still waiting for the whopping download to finish, but I’ll be sure to let you know my first impressions once I’ve experienced this epic bloodbath first-hand. In the meantime, check your emails; you never know your luck...

@ lebenchio:
You lucky so and so! :)

Ok, here are my thoughts in brief.

Let's start with the pros, shall we? Presentation is excellent. Action is cinematic, environments are detailed, and frame rate is consistently steady. Gameplay is fun, if a bit simple - it's very much a button-bashing fest, but it's enjoyable nonetheless; plenty of combos, plenty of enemies, and plenty of blood (this game is incredibly gruesome).

Now the cons: camera angles in areas are restrictive, and can't be manipulated whatsoever. Progression is very linear (go here, kill this, go there, open this door, etc), which might ultimately bore the sandbox generation. Combat mechanics and controls don't feel as natural as they do in titles like Devil May Cry 4 and Heavenly Sword. And finally, bosses don't appear to be affected by your attacks, and just pummel you through your onslaughts (which is annoying).

Those are my thoughts. I'm not about to impose my views on anyone, so feel free to disagree with me. Fans of the previous games will probably love this. Personally, I think this game is good, but nothing special.
