Sony acquires Killzone developer

Sony Computer Entertainment has recently announced its acquisition of Killzone developer Gurrilla Games. Based in Amsterdam, Guerrilla Games has produced the award winning game Killzone for Playstation 2 which has sold around 2 million copies worldwide. Gurrilla Games is currently developing next Killzone series exclusively for PS3. This highly anticipated game has already drawn much of its attention after the amazing presentation at the E3 of this year. The developer stated that they are also working on Killzone title for PSP as well.
Following the announcement, Sony stated that “a strategic move to secure long term excellence in game development for current and future PlayStation platforms”. Furthermore, Phil Harrison, President of SCE WWS, adds “I am delighted that they will now become a member of the SCE Worldwide Studios network of developers. As we prepare for the launch of PS3 next year, this acquisition strengthens our development portfolio to take full advantage of the exciting entertainment opportunities provided by PSP, PS3 and beyond”.
