Social networking coming to PS3?
Kotaku has received some juicy information on upcoming PS3 news. Jamil Moledina, executive director of GDC, said that PS3 owners will be ?very happy? after the keynote speech at GDC this year. Apparently, Kotaku received anonymous information concerning upcoming changes to PS3. According to the source, players will be able to create avatar and inhibit a virtual room where all their game accomplishments will be displayed.
?Basically, you get to make an avatar for your console (like a Mii) and this avatar has a room. As you play games and accomplish certain tasks, you will receive items with which to adorn the room that are specific to the game (achievements). The kicker is that this is going to be a new requirement for every PS3 game…?
This suggests Sony is trying to create social networking environment on PlayStation Network. Will this take off like MySpace did on the internet? No idea since the there is very little details regarding this feature. But I think this is right step toward creating environment more conducive for gamer interactions.
