Slow sales of Xbox 360 in Japan

Microsoft”s grandiose invasion of land of sun has been rather disappointing according to Enterbrain, publisher of leading Japanese game magazine Famitsu. A report by the publisher shows that about 62,000 out of around 159,000 Xbox 360s were sold since its debut on December 12. This figure is a bit discouraging to Microsoft due to the fact that the previous console sold twice as much in the first three days of the launch.
The blame game
Editor-in-Chief of Famitsu Xbox 360 believes that postponement of highly anticipated game Dead or Alive 4 was the main reason why Japanese gamers hesitated in acquiring Xbox 360 on the launch day. Moreover, he adds that 61.5 percent of his readers had planned to buy this game when it was supposed to debut with Xbox 360. Microsoft originally planned to release the game but at the last minute, decided to postpone the game until December 29th.
Enterbrain reported that some stores had customers who canceled pre-reserved Xbox 360s, while others asked to reserve a console for purchase when “Dead or Alive 4″ comes out.
