Rumour: PS3 to go 3D July 2010
Ah, anonymous tipsters, those mysterious individuals who helpfully supply advice or intelligence to others about matters of speculation without demanding fame or honourable mention in return. I often wonder what the gaming news industry would be without them…
The PlayStation 3 is destined to embrace a third dimension sometime this year, we know that much. However, when the 3D support firmware will be released remains Sony’s closely-guarded secret. So imagine my exuberance when I logged into my PS3Vault email account to find a mail entitled ‘PS3 goes 3D in July’ from a seemingly acronymic Yahoo address, awaiting the attention of my now intrigued eyes.
It contained nothing more than a lonely HTML link – no name, no commonplace pleasantries – which with one click whisked me to Best Buy’s ‘3D TV Explained’ FAQ page. I opened the first tab, ‘What do I need to buy to get full HD 3D in my home?’, and it read:
“To watch 3D Blu-ray Discs, you’ll need to add a 3D-ready Blu-ray player (or update your PS3 with the appropriate firmware when it becomes available in July).”
Inadvertently or deliberately, Best Buy has let a colossal cat out of a gargantuan bag with that sentence if their information is credible. I intend to speak to my contact at Sony later today to find out what’s what, and if my enquiry is answered with something other than the typical “we don’t comment on rumour or speculation” response, I’ll be sure to let you know.

this 3d process sounds good , but , it seems to me that
this has turned into a wide spread “greed” factor ? I by NO
means think even 40% of the games have the great graphics
and it’s always an upgrade feature ? I know what you may
