According to 1up.com they are speculating that based on the hint given by the CEO at a recent conference, RE5 might come out around March 2008. However, now there is an update saying that it maybe possible but who knows.

UPDATE: Translation woes have reared their head, as the next period may not actually mean by the end of Capcom’s next fiscal year. Chris Kohler of Game|Life took a look at the original Japanese release, and concluded Capcom’s head could simply be promising Resident Evil 5 is coming…someday. Maybe before March 2008, maybe not. Maybe never! At this point, waiting seems the best option.

ORIGINAL STORY: We haven’t heard anything about Resident Evil 5 since Capcom originally announced the game for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Who knows if the company will take the wraps off their zombie sequel during E3 next month, but while prefacing Capcom’s financial results for their 2006 fiscal year, president and CEO Kenzo Tsujimoto may have dropped a hint about the release date:

“In order to make Capcom more competitive, we will focus on further strengthening development of our core home video games business, marketing efforts and sales efforts. We plan to create a title portfolio that accurately reflects the global market share, as well as strengthen our R&D organization and staff. Our title lineup includes many new titles in our existing franchises over the next period, including ‘Resident Evil 5′.”

That tells us pretty much nothing — except Capcom’s aiming to release Resident Evil 5 before the end of their next fiscal year, ending March 31, 2008. This jives with Capcom producer Jun Takeuchi’s comments last December that Resident Evil 5 wouldn’t arrive until sometime in 2008. Resident Evil 4 arrived in a similar early-in-the-year timeframe, so Capcom’s timing wouldn’t be anything new.
