Sony has reported that the Playstation 3 console will require a firmware upgrade right out of the box in order to access Sony’s free online service dubbed Playstation Network.

According to Sony, the firmware upgrade will be available on November 17, the same day that the console will officially launch in the US. The firmware upgrade will be accessible from the console’s main menu and will bump the firmware version from v1.0 to v1.1
