PS3 Outsells Wii (in 2011…)
Sony is having to settle for third place these days but Screen Digest has determined that by 2011, Sony will be in the top position (almost) in 2011.
An analysis of console trends has the Wii on top in 2011 with around 75 million units worldwide, but it puts PS3 in a very, very close second place (we of course know PS3 will be in first place but let’s humor the nunchuck wielding grandmas playing Super Mario Bowling…)
Xbox 360 by the same year, meanwhile, will have a 40 million worldwide unit penetration, leaving it looking longingly at rivals.
Wii is proving so popular this Christmas that Nintendo has reportedly been moved to pull adverts for the console and will replace them with ones for DS instead.
Check back here in 2010 for an update.

Wow. Im not sure this projection has much releveance! Each company will probably have another console out by then! And even if they still focus on the PS3 sales we see where Sonys ” analysis of console trends” got them this time around. I hate to be leaving FUD around here but this is just another classic example of hyping their product. Sorry Fanboys
