PS3 Not backwards compatible? Say it ain’t so!
There’s a rumor floating around that PS3 will sacrifice it’s backwards compatibility in order to meet Sony’s strict internal release date. Forums all over the web are full of rumors that PS3 won’t read multi-layer discs, nor DVD and CD-ROM discs in Japan. US and European launches are rumored to not have this problem.
Does this make sense to anyone? PS3 will release an inferior drive……in Japan only, their biggest market share. They’d shoot themselves in the foot with a bad drive BEFORE Revolution even comes out as their only major competitor. And then Sony would just release an entirely different disc format in the rest of the world?
To whoever came up with this rumor, I salute you. You win PS3vault.com’s “Dumbest Rumor of the Year Award.” Seriously, did you even think about the implications of this one for just ONE second? So anyway, if you’re hearing this rumor and freaking out….just relax and don’t worry about it. If this rumor actually does turn out true I will eat dogfood on camera for you, our loyal readers.
