   well most of the games for ps3 are fps as well. i like my ps3 better than a 360 because i can upgrade my HDD, install linux, fight cancer, play blu-ray, video conference… plus it looks cooler.

   The PS3 network doesn’t have any issues with future upgrades in the hardware. If you were on xbox live with the legacy xbox, migrating to the 360 means you cannot loging to your old xbox with those credentials. All your old live-games that are not compatible with the new 360 controller are junk.

   To follow up the last point, the PS3 has excellent reverse compatibility. The first generation PS3’s had hardware support, and the later generations still play all yoru old ps2 games in software emulation, which is what the 360 does, but unlike them our support works since we didn’t change the controller layout.

   Sony doesn’t charge a subscription fee to get on their network, or to play network games. Microsoft charges either a yearly subscription or monthly, and it’s a tiered system where if you pay extra for gold, you get some more of what Sony provides for free.

   That’s about all I can think of right now. I bet other folks will fill in the gaps.

   Sooner or later the 360 will have absolutely no advantage on the PS3 at all. The margins are slim as it is now and you still continue to clutch at straws… By the end of this year we will be counting the vast numbers of ex360 - PlayStation converts.. hell its happening already..

   Lets face it, the 360 is not even next gen console.. - it’s a like a half gen suitable for 4 – 18 year old kids!! The PS1 is more impressive.     I own both systems 360 elite, and the first gen PS3.

    My opinion is that the two systems display games at about equal quality. A game is a game, and if you split hairs on frame rates, or anti-aliasing, you have missed the point. If playing games is your thing all that graphics stuff is an too close to call, or an after thought. If that sort of stuff is your niche, you are probably a PC gamer, and no console will ever please you.

    The PS3 has been reported to be slightly weaker in the graphics area due to the complexity of allocating memory for 9 parallel processors. However, for the same reasons, the PS3 can do more stuff on the screen because of 9 parallel processors. You get more AI, and fluid game sequences with PS3. With a nominal increase in graphics programing, resulting is first gen games being slightly less uber, they make up for in capability. It’s an acceptable trade-off.

    This is pretty much the main thrust of the PS3 design goal. It’s not just a game console, and to think of it that way is failure. That is the problem with 360 fan boys, their whole perspective is they are locked into a game only system, and want to drag PS3 enthusiast down to that level. Sure, you can spend several hundred dollars on accessories to make your 360 equivalent to a PS3, and suddenly it’s ghetto fabulous with all kinds of unaesthetic appendages hanging off.

    Face it, the 360 is a money sucking machine for Microsoft, sucking your money away from you every chance it can. The $50 yearly network subscription fee, the $150 external HD-DVD, the $100 external wifi kit, the $50 controller recharge kit, the over priced wireless ear-budds, and I could go on. By the time you upgrade your 360 to something usable, you may as well have bought a PS3, and have saved a significant difference. I have a spread sheet I made to illustrate all the accessories, and their prices to update a 360 elite to that of my first gen PS3, and suddenly the argument of cost is stupid.

    Games, if we must go there, I have to admit, the 360 has more games. The problem is most of them are cross ported to the PS3, and cost the same. If there is any 360 users out there that actually purchase every single game, and their ego is tied to their game collection, I’ll concede the point. So far that hasn’t happened, and when I’m in the store I see a game I like on the 360, I’d get it on the PS3. There are very few games exclusive to the 360 that the PS3 fanboys would want, it’s a short list: Gears, Halo, lost planet. Some might mention deadzone, but I think that game sucks, and I also think Halo sucks (the most over rated game of last year).

    So then, we are left with how the PS3 is NOT a game console, and more a home entertainment system. The same argument that is used to tout the 360, more games is the same argument that can tout the PS3 but with High-def movies. To be fair, we shouldn’t under-cut the PS3’s superior music playback engine, and visualization fountain. I’m not even sure the 360 can accept the memory card from a digital camera and make a slide show like the 360 does, not to mention the uber slide show effects. There is also the web browser with java and flash. You can watch you-tube videos with your PS3, where on the 360 you can pay for what little Microsoft chooses to provide you with precious Microsoft credits. The 360 doesn’t have a browser, and the reason is they want to lock you into their niche environment, and find ways to take money from you.

    One more point that is now irrelevant, but was one of the main talking points of 360 fan boys for many months was the ability to play movies stored on Windows Media Center edition. That was yet another marketing thing by Microsoft to make money on the media-pc version of their XP. That soon changed when Sony introduced the industry standard (read not proprietary) media sharing protocol named DLNA. Shortly there after MS adopted a more open policy about all this, and both your 360 and PS3 can latch onto the same media shares so all your pr0n is available in your living room. Many happy wankers on both sides. =-p

    Now to be fair, there is at least one aspect of the 360 that is much better than the PS3, and that is the bing fat controller is more comfortable in my hands. I suspect that one aspect alone is what really keeps a lot of folks on the 360 more than anything else. Sony would be wise to fix this soon.

    Hey all thos MS fanboys out their, I just traded in my 360 for the ps3 just last month, it is the longest playing period i have had because my 360 had a Red ring of Death by then. Atleast now i dont have to buy extras like a wireless adapter or a $30 charger to charge my controller. I like the fact i can use my bluetooth headset that i use for my cell phone with the Ps3. Also I like the fact that Ps3 uses a 2.5″ Sata hard drive which I upgraded to a 250GB while the 360 you have to buy a 360 hard drive to me that is just microsofts greed again. 360 120 GIG hard drive $120, My 250 Gig Ps3 hard drive $85. Hmm and not mention sony has the fastest and cheapest blue ray on the market which other blue ray companies are complaining about.. Just do the math price wise ps3 ownz, game wise Ps3 ownz, graphic wise ps3 ownz, over all system Wise Ps3 ownz.

    i must say this much, i work for a retailer who sells games (i cant say which but i think everyone knows) and as a salesman i’v been trying my best to remain non-bias between the 2 consoles, however im faced constantly with fanboys from both sides, and if you’re going to ask me which one I personally prefer i say PS3.

    The Games: If you’re going to dumb-down the PS3 to being a Game only console, then yes the xb360 has it beat… for now.. but it did get a year’s head start over the console, so its not totally fair to claim its better for that reason….     for the hell of it i’ll restate the obvious already said…

    Free internet gameing… i cant glorify that enough…. why would you pay monthly for a service you ALREADY pay for?
    If you’re like me, you pay for your internet connection (unless you’re sneaky and leech off your neighbors, like i will do if i forgot to pay that internet bill) why would you pay to get your computer online, and also pay to get your console online as well? of course thats AFTER you’ve bought the $100 wireless adapter.

    Of course, you can do a direct connection, to avoid the $100 cost, but you’re still paying 50 a year to get on halo 3, throw a gernade, and get called a noob by some 12 year old whos mom buys them everything.

    As an added bonus… when my computer had to be sent away for maintenance, i went without having one for quite some time… however, i attached the keyboard and mouse to my PS3, and BAM! the browser was almost as fast as the computer i sent away. it was nice to still be connected to the world, stream anime, and so fourth on my home console.

    Lifespan: this is a point i dont see very often in the forums etc… but really the 360 has been out for… what? 2 years now? almost 3… its got it’s Halo 3 out, Gears 2 on the way… then what? a console only lasts about…5-6 years? it’s climaxed halfway into it’s life… its going to take some serious developing to come up with a game worth playing that wont already be on the PS3…

    and at the very least…. when i bought my ps3 and played it… it’s lasted longer then a month….

    the retail store i work for, has since pulled it’s own warrenty off the xb360 becuz they broke down so frequently… it was getting too expensive to ship them out to be fixed etc…

    Customer Service: this is also a topic i dont see much… have any of you delt with Microsoft’s customer service help line people? omg… the most mind numbing hour and a half of my life… and it wasnt even 360 related…

    in short, i bought a 360 controler for my PC to use for roms (i was too lazy to get the ps2 adapter, dont hate me… i got an employee discount on the controller!) it was wireless and working fine…. for 2 weeks… then it stopped connecting to the receiver… i fought it for so long… but i HAD to call them… i was transfered to 3 different people… none of them had an answer to my questions and kept treating me like an idiot

    for ex: this is the exact conversation i had

    “Yes, i press the sync button on the receiver first, then on the controller, the lights spin, and then flash…and it just wont sync”
    “do you press the big xbox button… or the small button on the front… cuz you need to press the small one on the front…”
    “did you not hear me? i pressed the SYNC BUTTON on the controller…. not the XBOX button… i sell these things for a livivng i know the difference”
    “so the lights dont stop flashing?”
    “no, normally the first quadrant light stays lit to indicate its synced and working… it stopped doing that…”
    “have you tried turning the computer on and off?”
    “are you serious? i’v done EVERYTHING your website told me to do… and none of it worked… thats why im calling you now…”
    “ok well this is a little over my head, im going to transfer you to XBOX”
    “Arnt you xbox?”
    “no this is microsoft…. im going to transfer you over to the xbox help desk”

    there is no exaggeration there… thats is almost verbatim the conversation i had… they transfered me to xbox who at first didnt even answer…. and by the time we got thru the guy asked the exact same questions before transfering me to a higher power, who asked maybe 3 different questions (suprisingly smart ones…) but in the end told me i was SOL. wonderful….

    i really havnt heard any solid argument FOR xb360… its all the same yipping FPS gamers saying Halo is better then resistance… In short, as i said before… it ry my best to remain non-bias becuz i SELL all the systems… but as a personall preference, the priceless PS3 will always come first

I would probably wait till microcrap get’s better than sony,by then my 10th generation grandson may have an opinion!!!!!!

In my opinion, Sony offer a better customer service than the 360. And you ask where all the great games are, they are already out there and they are also coming in future. That would be the only sane reason to state that the ps3 actually has a good game. But then I read something about mgs4.     While ps3 fanboys beat mgs4 for the 4-5th time and wait impatiently for the microsoft made games to be crossed over to to the ps3, and pass their time making wrongful claims aginst the 360. While I and many others enjoy the bounty of exclusive games and lag-free online play.

    to make game run faster you can install the data on the ps3 hard drive
    also the ps3 has a wide list of games other just fps and some rpgs
    for one the ps3 is the only system to get time crisis 4
    all in all the 360 is just not as good as the ps3,
    if you or anyone else wants a 360

You cannot compare the ps3 to the 360 because even just on paper the ps3 is a far better system, blu-ray wilress controllers are better with sixxaxis and dualshock plus you dont have to buy a recharge kit or replace the batterys as they are in the controller, The ps3 system design is so much better looking, i had to send my 360 out 4 times in 1 years, how is that entertaining for a gamer?
