Brothers in Arms 3
Gearbox Software, developers of the critically acclaimed Brothers in Arms series, have confirmed they will be taking their squad based WW2 FPS to the PS3. The new game, under the working title Brothers in Arms 3, will carry on the same story and plot between Sgts. Baker and Hartsock, from the first two games. According to Randy Pitchford, Gearbox CEO, the game will have “…many many compelling stories. True stories we want to cover…..We’ve talked about the 4th Infantry. We’ve talked about some of the German units. We’ve talked about different theaters and different wars. One of the advantages of having [realism advisor] Colonel John Antal on our staff full time is that there is never a shortage of information about the biggest, most amazing war stories.” (quote edited for clarity)
Pitchford also made reference to a new multiplayer system that will go beyond the limitations of the current ubi.com network, as well as a possible change to the command ring system– a fundamental part of the BiA series’ gameplay. However, nothing specific has been given at this time. BiA, who’s plot closely mirrored the HBO miniseries “Band of Brothers”, has been one of the few WW2 games to actually capture the authentic combat feeling, rather than another deathmatch in 1940’s clothes. We can’t wait to see how it looks on the PS3.
