PS3 Games: More FF XIII details

IGN has come up with more details on Final Fantasy XIII. According to IGN, Famitsu, Japanese game magazine, has interviewed several people working on Final Fantasy XIII. The magazine points out that the world will be divided into two parts called Cocoon and Pulse. Cocoon will be guarded safe place for few privileged people whereas Pulse will be everything outside of Cocoon. This sounds very similar to Battle Angel Alita, manga series and an anime movie. People living in Cocoon are constantly paranoid of people outside of it. Anyone who comes into contact with people from Pulse is deemed to be working with them to invade Cocoon. The Cocoon itself is protected by crystals which have power to take physical manifestation of real life objects. The female lead seen from the trailer is said to be named Lighting. Of course, the background details will not be known until game is released. She is said to be proficient in gun, sword, hand to hand, and magic combats. Head on over to IGN to check out the trailers and more screen shots.
The trailer also served as the debut of a second character, a blonde-haired guy who speeds in on a motorcycle as Lightning finds herself surrounded by government troops. While the magazine doesn’t provide any details on this character, it does provide some surprises about his motorcycle. Famitsu reveals that the bike is a transformed version of Shiva, the water-based summon spell that makes a brief appearance in the Jump trailer. In FFXIII, Shiva takes the form of a sister pair, and both sisters are made up of bike parts, complete with a wheel behind the head. Toriyama wouldn’t spill the details, but hinted that you might be able to ride the transformed Shiva in battle, in addition to using it as a means of transportation when outside of battle.
Once again, most of the details in this latest update have been saved for the main FFXIII title, with only tiny bits coming our way on Final Fantasy Versus XIII. Mostly, Famitsu describes what went on in the Jump trailer, itself an extended version of the E3 trailer, but there are a few details that we missed during our initial viewing.
