PS Home Content Details
You'll no doubt have read the news by now that Home is opening its doors to the masses tomorrow. Excitement all round without doubt. News just in however of the content that is coming post-launch...
Some people in the closed beta have complained of the Home space being a little sparse. That shouldn't be the case for long though as at an SCEE event in London today lots of details were given out about what Home will have in the future. We all know that the survival of Sony's virtual world opus depends on the masses coming in and setting up shop. To quote Daniel Hill from Sony Europe "Home will live or die on the strength of its content". Indeed sir indeed. To sate our appetites for said content he went on to divulge some details of cool things coming to a virtual space near you:
- The Motorstorm appartment - is set on a cliff over looking the MS racing canyon. There is apparently a mini race going on down there that you can watch
- The Event Space - this area will play host to specific events and competitions. The example given was of a PSP-3000 contest where Homians (tm) have to search an area for code numbers. You enter the code into a Home-based website to be entered into a prize draw for a real life PSP-3000. Neat!
- Red Bull have already announced their area in Home. A 3D Redbull Races flying game will be available for you to post your best time on and go for bragging rights
- Buzz! the quiz game showed some concept art around an interactive quiz where you move your avatar onto the right part of a giant Buzz! controller to answer questions. This could be up to 32 player so imagine the mid-quiz carnage!
- Alas, the Trophy room is apparently on hold. However, it has been confirmed that Home will be able to read your trophies and unlock content within it approrpriately. If that's so it would be cool to get access to special areas of Home based on getting that elusive Platinum trophy
- Lastly, more details were given around further integration with the whole PSN system. For example, being able to download a demo by walking up to an advert or video trailer of it in Home. Also included was the possibility of inviting people cross-game using the built in party system.
All these things may not make it in the full version. But, Home is a rolling product. It will be in perpetual beta (as is the fashion these days) and so we can reasonably expect loads of it to come over time. Sony just needs to make sure the quality content comes thick and fast. A weekly update on Thursdays might be nice. Just sayin'...
Anyone else more excited about Home than they were this morning?

Is it out yet? Has anyone downloaded it?
Can't wait.
its about dang time is all I have to say!
I am in the we'll see school, at the moment.
After being invited into the last closed beta session, i was very excited as like everyone else, i've been waiting for this for what seems like several years.
Once i got in there, i was disappointed to find nothing in any of the shops, and even after the recent update, you still cant buy picture frames or TV's :(
'i go back home' every day to find nothing has changed. I can only hope that come tomorrow, there will be a load of new stuff to do. There will certainly be a load more people. hope the servers can handle it as Home Square is going to get very busy!
Before any of the haters chime in (and need to be reminded to just NOT go into Home) just wanted to say how stoked I am to finally be able to experience Home for myself.
I don't expect a game, but will enjoy the diversions (including games). I don't have a burning desire to make new friends online, but will be looking for my own friends and am open to meeting others.
It's the potential of what will be coming (and it is coming). Cool homes and apartments to retreat to, cool new spaces, buildings, islands, etc to explore, and new and inventive ways of interacting with games, movies, music.
This is so far beyond what any of Sony's competitors have even contemplated. It will have a bumpy start, there will be connectivity problems at first, there will not be so much to do for a while, and there will be arses wherever you go (there are more jerks at the local mall) - but so what?
Over the months and years to follow, we will have this groundbreaking metaverse in which to spend a bit of time when the urge arises, and the other online offerngs (at a price no less) will pale in comparison.
It's not being overdramatic to say that tomorrow marks the beginning of a new era in online social networking. Years from now, we'll look back on this as the time when "it" all started...
Excited!
Sceptical!

I'm emotionally multi-tasking and I just don't care. Or maybe I do.
This is fantastic. With support coming from lots of developers hopefully more will follow suit and Home will live up to its full potential..
