TSA have said that PlayTV is due out on the 19th September (in the UK, France, Italy, Spain and Germany), for £69.99. PlayTV is the Europe-only (for the moment, at least) digital TV viewer for the PS3 that lets you record programs, all through some rather nice looking menus – so think Sky+ but spiffier looking.

However, there has been some debate to the exact features – which TSA have also confirmed – contrary to what was previously announced, you can not freely transfer your recordings – not even to your PSP. You can stream them via remoate play, as well as live TV, too. It’s still a bit of a kick in the teeth that they essentially lied to us – though I’m sure there is a good reason for the change. The hardware itself has two tuners, so you can record two programs, or record one and watch one, etc – and it’ll even record whilst you’re playing games or watching a film from your PS3’s hardrive, which is nice.

So, though the lack of free transfering of recordings has lessened it slightly, it’s still awesome, so buy it on the 19th.
