PlayStation 3 sales reach 5 Million in Japan

The fine people over at Famitsu have just announced that the PlayStation 3 has reached a huge milestone in its life having sold more than 5 million units in Japan alone. The actual number (as of April11th) was an incredible 5,001,598, and that number is only going to get larger as time goes on.
Sony has the release of the PlayStation 3 Slim and the abundance of quality software titles to thank for a recent sales spike that has contributed to this high number of overall sales. At present, the games helping to push the system are Final Fantasy XIII, which has sold 1,883,828 copies, and Yakuza 4, which is sitting around the 526,093 mark.
Here in North America we are still continuing to experience some console shortages, but even so sales figures are still rising. And with the PlayStation Move coming out later this year and a host of new games on the horizon, the only way is up for SCE.
