PlayStation Home Q&A
Sony has released developer?s Q&A on various aspects of upcoming PlayStation Home. The Q&A covers wide range of topics from technical issues to business model for 3rd party development in Home environment. The social networking environment will launch its closed beta in April, followed by open beta in August. The finalized version will launch sometime in October. There are several facts that should be interesting to most PS3 owners.
The PlayStation Home will support many online transactions such as avatar customization, game previews, and special events. The most intriguing part of this is that Home will provide platform for more interaction with the game developers or game industry insiders. It could be virtual meeting or presentation that should be interesting to most gamers.
?Q: Will I be able to attend ticketed (paid-for) special
Yes, in time Home will play host to many types of event.as exclusive game previews and developer interviews Home and its affiliated content providers. Live events concerts may also be broadcast within Home.?
Also, players could trade and/or sell items or rewards through auction, which will be implemented in future. The tools for developing Home content will be provided to 3rd party by Sony. According to Sony users will see some form of advertisement in order for 3rd party to effectively develop contents. However, users will only be subjected to ?reasonable? amount of advertisements.
One other thing I found interesting was the restriction on sharing of media contents. Obviously, Sony Is worried about illegal distribution of media contents. However, Sony will allow users in private group to view these files in Home environment.
