Playstation Home Beta commences in North America

According to GWN, Home Beta has been launched in North America following the beta launch in Europe earlier last week.
The beta has appeared in the PlayStation Store along with all the other new content released earlier today (including Super Rub a Dub), and is available to download if you’ve been accepted into the closed beta.
Home is said to be Sony’s answer to Xbox Live. According to Wikipedia, “PlayStation Home is a community based service for the PlayStation Network which will become freely available when it launches in the later part of 2007. Home allows users to create an avatar character for their PlayStation 3 console. This avatar will get their own house, which can be adorned by items players can receive in several achievements. In the future the service will also expand, allowing players to have more sorts of clothing, as well as hold pets.”
