PlayStation 3 software takes top spot on NPDs

Last month was a fantastic month for the PlayStation 3 and its software. The console managed to snag seven spots on the NPD top 20 software list, taking first place with (you guessed it) God of War III, which sold 1.1 million units. Sony also has the abundance of other triple A titles released in recent months, each with strong sales, such as Final Fantasy XIII, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, and Heavy Rain to name a few.

With all of the quality software already released so early on in the year, and more to come (which we will be hearing about when E3 comes around), it’s easy to see that the PlayStation 3 is going to have an extraordinary year. I’m sure I speak for everyone when I say I just simply can’t wait to see what Sony has in store for the rest of 2010.

Heavy Rain was a fantastic game. I was stuck to my PS3 until I finished it. There were a couple plot holes I could've done without, but other than that, it was fantastic.

But Re: NPD's top spot. As much as I love the PS3, that is a half truth at best. The New Pokemon game sold 1.8 million units, blowing GoWIII out of the water. It's just that the game was released in two versions (color1 and color2, because I don't remember) and therefore sales were scattered among the two, but it was still the same game. In fact, one of the games sold something like 1.08 copies, nearly knocking GoWIII out of the top spot by itself.

Sad, but true. American buyers are nuts.

I with PS3 all the way as long as they don't take to long on distributing new material , games of course and don't try to
slip some BS in there either ! the upcoming games look to
make more sense than all the dragon / monster crap which
i'll never buy and believe me i'm not the only one ! Heavy Rain
was way to much of a movie type for me and I lost out on my
trade in , I PLAYED IT OUT AND JUST GOT PLAIN TIRED OF IT ! But most of the mature games have great minds behind them ! keep them coming SONY after all you're taking a lot of my money ! when I think of mature I think of creativity and more realization than just swearing ! i'll say it
again - The Saboteur , Uncharted , Saints 2 , GTA , -
l A Noire , True Crime , Max Payne etc. all kept my interest
