Phil Harrison to make keynote speech at GDC
As GDC rolls on, Phil Harrison will make a keynote speech titled ?Game 3.0: Developing and Creating for the 3rd Age of Videogames.? The speech will be accompanied by live demonstration of much speculated service and new games. The ?service? is most likely the much rumored PlayStation Home, social networking gaming service. There is no concrete news on the service yet. However, Kotaku recently revealed some details regarding the service which includes avatar and a room with game accomplishments. As for the games, there is no news which game will be shown or which games will be announced. Also, Sony is looking to make game development easier for the developers.
?The company is also using the event as an opportunity to showcase its new development tools, with the firm’s booth showing off techology including the Tuner For PS3 profiling tool, Unreal Engine 3, the PSSG high-level graphics package, and other tools including analysis and physics packages for the console.?
Anything that will make game development cheaper and easier should be welcomed by the game makers. The game developers have commented on the difficulties involved in making games for PS3 compared to other platforms.
