The line had already formed when I arrived at my local Ebgames around 8:00 am this morning. Well, welcome to the wonderful digital age where a piece of information gets passed around faster than you can blink your eye. These people have been camping in front of the store since 2 am this morning. Thank god I got 4 hours of beauty sleep. In less than half an hour, the line had exceeded 12 people. Around 9 am, an hour before store opens, an employee showed up and announced that the store will allow 16 reservation of PS3s. By this time we had well over 16+ people waiting in line. I was 8th in line so I knew I was somewhat safe if for some reason allotment size decreased on the release date. I have met some interesting people, including those who regularly visit my site and I was privileged to have met Dan Dormer, freelance writer for 1up.com. I am sure some of you will see the interview he held this morning with some of the people waiting in line at 1up.com. Anyways, here are some pictures: This picture was taken around 8 am this morning. As you can notice people are reading. This eb store is located in the heart of university. People are getting ready for exams and camping out to have a chance at PS3 Pre order. Hardcore aint it? Here in this picture, Dan Dormer, writer for 1up.com, is taking a break from the intense interview to pose for me! He is the guy standing on the right with his little notepad full of interview questions and notes!! This shot was taken at another EB store. Some people are determined!! Yes finally we got to pay our $100 deposit and say our goodbyes to each other for the 2 hours of bonding and friendships!! Mad props to the eb employee who handled PS3 pre order this morning while we eagerly waited to hand over our deposit. He was very professional, courteous, and understood the painful console launch process. And to those who missed PS3 Pre Order frenzy at Ebgames/Gamestop, here is why: GameStop and EB Games will begin accepting limited pre-orders for the PlayStation 3 console on Tuesday, October 10, on a first come, first served basis. Due to extremely limited supply, we expect to deplete this allocation very quickly, most likely in minutes. We will not accept additional pre-orders at this time. To avoid an unnecessary trip we strongly recommend you call your local store to determine availability. A $100 reservation deposit is required, which can be funded with cash, credit or trade. As we cannot control production and shipping issues by the manufacturer, a reservation deposit does not guarantee receipt of a system available to purchase at launch. Reservations/Purchases are limited to 1 per household. The reservation slots are gone within matter of minutes.
