No implementation of Damage in Grand Turismo 5

According to official Playstation forums, a developer of next gen Grand Turismo title, in response to a user on the forum, that it would be very difficult to implement detail damage on cars as suppose to just implementing “simplified damage” that some other developers use to show damage on a vehicle and how the damage affect the vehicle in various ways.
derrickgott007: People are already exploting the no damage to ruin the leaderboards?.There are videos on Youtube on how to get 1.07min lap times by fence riding and going full speed into the turns to riccoceht off the fence?.Please put in damage to stop these people.
skebe: Sorry for not being able to respond earlier? didn?t know until today that this forum had a PM feature
Although we?re not ready to implement damage until they can be shown in a truly authentic way (which is extremely hard work if you think about it), we are doing our best to avoid these kind of ?cheating? to take place.
derrickgott007: I understand what you are saying about the hard work?..But FORZA 2 has damage, and so does the TOCA series? If GT5 had damage it would be UNSTOPPABLE.
skebe: No I mean, really really really hard work? to the extent of creating another game, almost. From our standards, what other racing games are doing is ?simplified damage?. You know how **bleep** we are when making our games? we would want to simulate every single dent differently

I love crashing. What is the point of having the most realistic driving simulator in the world if you can’t mash your car into the wall and see perfect damage. Where is the fun and realism if the car just bounces off the wall, no dents to be seen. Boooooring! This just makes me more likely to take a car for a burn in GTA4 instead and mash it into a wall. Much better. Crap damage is better than no damage, by far. Who cares if it’s not perfect. It’s a lot more realistic than none at all.
i have GTA4 and i love crashing into walls and watch the car get damaged i have played all the Grand Turismo games including GT4 prologue i have wished and wished for damage in Grand Turismo.. i understand the amount to work and scripting that has to be done for a game like that.. and i know its alot of work but if there was a Grand Turismo game with damage it will be UNSTOPPABLE. i hope to see damage in a Grand Turismo game in the near furture with the high level of graphics that Gran Turismo has and with a wide range of cars also with performance modifications now that would be a truly ultimate game.. ( alltho the work that the game would require would be enormous not to menchion the size of the disc it would have to hold all that information )
