Next Firmware Update to introduce Facebook and coloured Gamercards

Firmware 3.00 Banner

Going by a rumour-turned-real post on ScrawlFX, it appears some new (and, unfortunately, essentially useless) alterations are soon to be made to the PlayStation 3’s XMB in the next firmware update.

For example, you’ll be able to manage your Facebook profile through your PlayStation Network account. You’ll be able to change the colour of your gamercard to suit your mood. You’ll even be able to view your photo collection in a more efficient way.

Ok, so it’s not much to get excited about it. If we’re honest, we’d be very surprised if the community was requesting things like Facebook integration and gamercard colour palettes over more practical functions like cross-game chat. Still, it’s a step in the right direction… right?
