Players can dual-wield weapons in Resident Evil 6

If you’re as big a fan of Capcom’s survival horror videogames as I am you’ll no doubt have watched the Resident Evil 6 debut trailer repeatedly since last Thursday, cluing-up on the game’s new protagonists, enemies, settings and gameplay mechanics… but did you spot the return of dual-wielding?
At about 1:21 you’ll see Leon floor an advancing zombie with a spinning back heel Steven Segal-style – a manoeuvre ripped straight from Resident Evil 4, so nothing to get excited about. However, pause this movement mid-flow and you’ll notice that our centre-parted policeman is in fact holding two handguns:

If you cast your mind back to Resident Evil: Code Veronica, Chris Redfield’s sister Claire was able to brandish two pistols at once, allowing her to target two attackers at the same time. Taking into account the over-the-shoulder third-person playing perspective, introduced to the franchise in RE4, it will be interesting to see how this ability will be treated/refined in RE6.
Let's hope we can dual-wield melee weapons too. Twin combat knives? Uh, yes please!
