Codemasters not looking to outdo Activision or EA’s first-person shooters

It is every FPS developer’s ambition to produce a title that is equally as successful as (if not better than) the hugely-popular Call of Duty and Battlefield franchises – at least, that’s what we thought. Sion Lenton, Creative Director of Operation Flashpoint: Red River, recently disclosed that Codemasters has no intention of competing with the big boys. In fact, the British studio wants to offer gamers something more unique and stimulating.
In an interview with our friends at CVG, Lenton stated:
"I think we've got a longer game plan. If I'm being honest I'm going to step to one side and let EA and Activision duke it out. I'm actually much more interested in being in a very different space from those guys, hence the co-op side of things and also that kind of authenticity that we have here which is almost that reportage style, a gritty documentary style.
He continues:
“I don't know about you but I've started to sense a little bit of genre fatigue, for want of a better word, and I think - I know I am myself - people are yearning for something a little more different. Something that challenges them a little more, I think that's the kind of thing we're trying to offer here.”
From what we’re read and seen, Codies is set to deliver a believable and intellectual experience, where logic and teamwork will triumph over twitch-shooting and Rambo-esque endeavours. Gets a thumbs up from us already…
Operation Flashpoint: Red River arrives on April 21 in Europe, and April 26 in the US.

After the disappointing and unworking Homefront not to mention the terrible Medal of Honor I think I will just stick to Bad Company 2 I won't be purchasing any other first person shooter this year other than battlefield 3 just because even Black Ops wasn't very good..But By far the worst game of them all was HOMEFRONT....even to this day the game doesn't work.
