My Thoughts: LittleBigPlanet
I think this game has the potential to be absolutely fantastic. The idea of a building game with a point is clever – building things from objects to share and use, levels to share play or challenge your friends with, to worlds that display a huge amount of creativity and smarts, I think the idea has a lot of genius behind it.
Not only that, but the graphics are fantastic. Now, I’m a pretty serious gamer (I got myself £100 in debt to my girlfriend so I could get a PS3 – that kinda shows how serious I am about gaming), so I know graphics are second to gameplay, but it’s great when you can get more – there are few examples of this, really, Heavenly Sword being one of the most recent, along with Call of Duty 4, but LittleBigPlanet looks like it’ll add to this list. The demo videos are, despite only being on video sites similar to google, beautiful. The texture on the objects, the cute little characters, and the realism of the curb they’re stood and the way everything moves so fluidly all look amazing.
Granted I’m only judging from videos here, but the game seems to work really well. The flow of the objects, thanks to the intuitive physics engine, the way things move, traversing levels, whether made by your friends, complete strangers or the ones that come with the game, looks like it’s gonna be sheer bliss.
The sticker system looks entertaining too – especially being able to stick things to other players; in one of the demo videos, they stick antenae to a character, and the antenae move pretty realistically. And decorating levels with your own picture, from hardrive or Playstation Eye, could get pretty fun too.
So, to be completely honest, I think this game is going to be revolutionary, if it lives up to it’s potential. The originality of ideas and the combination and use of others, along with the beautiful presentation and the onset of user-generated content, is sure to be a hit that will last for years. If only it’d arrive sooner.

I can’t wait. I do fear people taking pictures of their “private parts” and stickering them everywhere, but that would only add to the hilarity.
LittleBigPlanet looks excellent. It reminds me, in a certain way, of older games that while argueably may or may not be that well made (I enjoyed them), were absolutely drenched with versatility. Animal Crossing comes to mind. The only part of this game I will NOT be taking part in when it comes out is the Playstation Eye aspect. I hate Playstation Eye.
Looks like a fun, entertaining little game though.
I think this is the game that will really boost the PS3. More then MGS4 or FFXIII. This game appeals to all kind of players, from the hardcore to the casual. MSG4 and FFXIII only appeals to the hardcore gamer.
LBP targets a much vast audience. I simply can’t wait to get my hands on this game. And I considered myself to be a hardcore gamer (MGS4, FF, COD4, etc).
this game s going to be so sick… I hope it gives the PS3 a boost that it needs and looking forward… And I believe it will
When does it come out?
It’s rumoured to be out in April, but we haven’t got a final release date yet.
