Modern Warfare 2 Rated 18

modernwarfare2banner

Modern Warfare 2 has been given an 18 age rating by the BBFC censorship agency today for containing ‘strong bloody violence’. And there we were thinking it would be all feather dusters and cotton wool…

Joking aside, this news makes us wonder just how horrific Infinity Ward’s sequel to Modern Warfare is going to be, given that Treyarch’s considerably graphic Call of Duty: World at War received only a 15 for containing ’strong violence and language’ (no blood, then?). After further investigation, it turns out that Modern Warfare 2 is officially the first Call of Duty title to receive an 18 age rating. See for yourselves.

Only time will tell whether or not the BBFC’s stern evaluation will affect unit sales, but we figure it’s unlikely. After all, as per the late Aaliyah, ‘age ain’t nothing but a number’.

  1. The question is not what has changed to up the rating here. The question should be why oh why was COD4:MW only rated a 15?!

Not like all those 15-yr old MW fans aren’t going to buy this game anyway…

  2. I think this one has been rated poorly. I have played MW2 and I am 15, the only ’strong bloody violence’ I have seen is getting jelly thrown in your face when you get shot alot…

And louis, MW1 was only a 15 because it was only moderate violence, anyone who is intelligent enough to play video games shouldn’t be affected by the graphic content and should enjoy the game.

I think that it is strange why CoD5 was only rated a 15… that has dismemberment in it.
