Releases for the platform are centred around giving the player a quick fix of gaming. Whether they?re retro re-releases or new games, they are designed as pick up and play games. They?re great fun, but I?d love to see the platform used for non-arcade style titles as well. It’s an opportunity to release games that’ll appeal to a smaller set of gamers less worried about how a game looks. RPGs, for instance, I think could work really well on the network. With a few exceptions, as a genre they?re not often made by their graphical accomplishments. I?d be willing to accept an RPG with relatively simplistic graphics as long as it had a decent plot, or original gameplay mechanics. Although it?s a long shot, I?d love to see adventure games on the store as well: again a franchise that?s not dependent on eye candy. It would also help to give the PS3 a more diverse games base.
