Metacritic: LBP = 95

We’re far enough from LBP’s release date to have a good indication on Metacritic’s final average on all the critic reviews. Well, from 60 reviews, LittleBigPlanet gets an average of 95, making it joint second best game on the PS3, alongside Bioshock and under Grand Theft Auto IV (which has 98).
Amongst the LBP reviews, only two are under 90, thirty nine are between 90 and 100 and there are nineteen are the increasingly less-rare score, 100. That, my friends, is a rather well recieved game.

If any game deserves it, LittleBigPlanet does.
Let’s face it, the likes of GTA IV never deserved 10/10 scores but they got them a plenty, mostly because of their ‘presence’. It’s still happening today with ports like Bioshock and Gears 2 getting 100 scores, despite still having certain issues.
No game deserves a perfect score, but LBP comes closer than anything else ever made. And it does so while charting new, almost unfathomable territory at the same time.
I’ve been loving it since the beta, and it continues to get better and better each day. The quality of user content is already miles better than it was after week 1, and this ain’t gonna stop any time soon. MM have already stated they have a full years supply of DLC in the pipeline, much of which will be building materials and new functionalities.
I have Fallout 3, Resistance 2, Dead Space, Far Cry 2 and Bioshock, and they’re all shrink wrapped still (and now up on eBay before they drop too much). I will circle back and pick them up on sale somewhere in a few months when I finally take LBP out of the tray…
THAT, ladies and gentlemen, is what defines the perfect game…
GTA deserved a 10/10, even more so now that it has trophies.
LBP deserves the same score, I was very impressed by both games.

Fair enough that you think LBP is spectacular – it really, really is. But you really under-rate other games! I mean, Fallout 3 is amazing, Resistance 2 (from having played the beta) is impressive, to say the least, Dead Space has graphical and horror qualities beaten by very few other games, Far Cry 2 almost redefines the free-roam game and Bioshock, do I need say more? The fact that you’re selling them before even having played them is not doing them justice… And please, PLEASE, for your own sake, don’t overplay LittleBigPlanet. I know it seems impossible, but you don’t wanna make yourself sick of a game that’s more than worthy of PS3 Game of the Year (alongside epic titles such as MGS4 or GTA IV).
