'Mapathy' cured: Infinity Ward reveals Modern Warfare 2 DLC details
The recent outbreak of ‘Mapathy’, a condition specific to members of the Modern Warfare 2 community defined as "a state of indifference to the same old maps one has been playing for the last several months", has prompted Infinity Ward to disclose information regarding a long-awaited map pack.
As per the official Mapathy website (we kid you not, there is one), the cure - dubbed the 'Stimulus Package’ - will arrive on March 30th, and will consist of three all-new multiplayer environments and two well-known classics ported from the original Modern Warfare.
Regrettably though, it’s not all good news. First, it is said that the downloadable content will cost a staggering $15 (UK pricing tbc, typically), and second the aforementioned date applies only to the Xbox 360 at present; PS3 release information has not yet been confirmed.
We can’t tell you our personal thoughts without breaching PS3Vault’s terms and conditions concerning the publication of obscenities in articles, but we won’t be surprised if a sudden outbreak of ‘Unhappathy’, defined as "holy cow, we have to wait and pay how much for this DLC?!?", spreads like wildfire in the coming days.

@Dorritos lawl
Ps3 and Pc get the same release date, so dont feel to hard done by.
As far as the map selection goes, regardless of whats included, consider the fact that inevitably, 90% of mw2 players will buy them. Hell theyd pay that just for new skins. Of course what everyone WANTS is a different story. More spec-ops, guns, game modes... and maps. So lets just watch infinity ward drip feed us these tidbits, as their wallet gets fatter.
Worst for PC gamers , like me !
It will cost us 15 $ and well have to wait x2 amount of time like you console dudes .....
atleast we have Mouse controls , gprahics settings and Hacked servers !!! lol
I think IW is really doing everything to make us all Xbox fanboys , so with the help of that more peopole with buy x360's and they will be payd and laid by Microsofts Gals lol
my friend has the 360 and the maps are awspme!!
i dont think that its fair that the maps for the xbox 360 came out before the ps3. i do think that it is kinda weird to have old maps on it but it will be really fun. and when is the map pack coming out for the ps3 anyways
@ positiva-geeza:
Yes, double Martyrdom. Now we're all going to take you seriously...
@Everyone
Stop moaning about the cost, so what! you're all gonna download it anyway. The maps will be great, even the old ones. How about some xtra games or perks (double Martyrdom would be feckin' awesome!)
@Everyone
I don't know about you guys, but I actually don't mind too much about the 'regurgitation' of these two maps, as they're easily the best CoD4 maps and if I want to just have a casual multiplayer sesh with my friends, Modern Warfare 2 will always be our game of choice... What I would like to see is for these two maps (Crash and Overgrown for those not aware) to be modified slightly to account for the new killstreaks and everything; can you imagine a chopper gunner on Overgrown, it'd be ridiculous! As for the new maps, they better be good because I don't want to pay £10 for something that I won't enjoy...
'Unhappathy’, lol. Love it.
@ Matt:
First off, thank you for complimenting my writing :)
I do appreciate that the DLC's price equates to $3 a map, but I suppose I'm disappointed about the 'regurgitation', as Darren has put it, of old material.
I myself was quite fond of Modern Warfare's map selection, and no doubt this content will be top-notch, but $15 (or approx. £10/12 for us Brits) just seems a bit steep considering 2 of these maps will simply be ported over.
But thanks for your comment nevertheless.
@ Matt:
I second Lewis. Regurgitating old maps is not my idea of 'new' content. I still have my copy of Modern Warfare; why would I want to pay money for maps I already have?
Each of CoD: WaW's DLC packs included 3 new maps and a new Zombie map - for £8. The last Borderlands' DLC cost £6 and delivered over 10 hours of gameplay, new guns, and 11 more ranks to climb. B:BC2's upcoming DLC is being given away free.
Do that math.
Oh well. Even if its expensive, I will still buy it because I want the maps. Although, I do hope more spec ops will show up in this pack, then $15 will be a great price.
@matt well yeah because think obaout the other DLC's cod4 had 3 maps for $10 COD:WAW had 3 maps & a nazi zombies map for $10 and now these guys are charging us an etxra $5 for 2 maps that we already have in cod4, i mean its there choice to give us OLD maps, we shouldnt be charged for them, only for new content.. plus theres still the debate that these maps are already on the disc
So paying 10 bucks for 3 maps(Halo Legendary) is fine, but 15 for 5 is horrible? Good writing, poor math.
