MAG Online Beta Update

For those of you who don’t already know, MAG is the upcoming title from Zipper Interactive that promises a FPS multiplayer experience unlike any other. Boasting enormous scale and intelligent level design, the developers claim it is capable of supporting 256 players online per skirmish (yes, you read that right) at a steady 30 frames per second.

Naturally, their ambitions have raised a few eyebrows, and there are understandable concerns about potential lag problems, though when the game was on shown at E3 it seemed to work lag-free. The idea of such numbers running amuck on a chaotic battlefield has generated some serious buzz amongst FPS fans.

Though MAG’s release isn’t expected until sometime in 2010, a PSN member has published an article on The Gamer Access telling of how he recently spotted one of his friends (who happens to be a Sony employee in the US) playing it – suggesting a public online Beta might not be far away.

It just goes to show that who you know in this industry can be just as important as what.

now this is one of the games thats getting me more excited than MW2!! I can't wait to get a grip on this!! A beta would be amazing, and would also help to PROVE the claims of Lag free-ness ...

I will be keeping in close contact with my mate at Sony SCEE ... if he gets it, I'll find out first hand if its any good ...
