LittleBigPlanet recalled and delayed worldwide
SCEE has just announced to the press that shipped LittleBigPlanet units are to be recalled on a worldwide level… thanks to a licensed track within the game containing two “expressions” from the Muslim Qur’an.
It was assumed earlier this afternoon that shipped units would pulled back in Europe only, but Sony has stated that the move will be made “worldwide,”
When asked about the number of recalled units, a SCEE rep said, “We haven’t been given any figures.”
SCEE has made a just made a statement on the issue, stating that the game will be delayed as a result of this but the company has declined to confirm a new release date as yet.
During the review process prior to the release of LittleBigPlanet, it has been brought to our attention that one of the background music tracks licensed from a record label for use in the game contains two expressions that can be found in the Qur’an. We have taken immediate action to rectify this and we sincerely apologise for any offence that this may have caused.
We’ll confirm the new launch date shortly.
We’ll keep you posted. This news is too tragic not too.

Why wouldn’t they just eliminate the track via LBP update and release it anyways? why would this be something they would leave in until the last minute?
get on with it already.
i agree with sac boy
Well, I’m pretty sure most games contain “expressions that can be found in the Bible”… Fucking political-correctness, I currently loathe the Muslim culture. >.<
the reason they cant eliminate the song through update is its burnt to the disc, you can always add things to the game through updates that are stored on ps3 never change whats on the disc…
this has been updated. MM had this fixed in under 12 hours and Sony has the new master. Sony will ship out the revised versions the week of October 27th. Looks like a 7-10 day delay. Not popular, but not the end of the world either. It was damned if you do, damned if you don’t…
HAHA, SUCKS TO BE YA’LL, I got my copy before the official release date, (and) before the delay, and it’s not beta, it’s the guine thing, disk and everything. HOWEVER, I have noticed a couple of glitches/errors though.
1.) The game (for some reason) won’t connect to any of the online features, which kinda makes sense because M.M. might still be making sever preperations for release.
2.) A glitch in one of the levels has twice already prevented me from completing the level and moving on.
3.) A glitch when making your very own levels prevents advancement, specifically, the “audio device” tutorial. Normally when you complete a tutorial you unlock extra tools and what-not to better your level, but even when following all of the steps, the tutorial doesn’t finish unlike the previous ones.
So lame, if the muslims didnt like it then they didnt have to buy the game
Gotta agree with Mickey…
If this was some group from the USA complaining, they’d say “screw you and too bad”..
If I don’t like something, I won’t watch/listen to it…as simple as that.
Hey Intel-Qube,
Put on your thinking cap, dude. The reason things don’t work is because the game has not been released yet, and you are trying to play an unofficial copy of the game.
The first time you are able to connect to the servers (once the game is officially out in its revised format) you will need to patch your game to continue which means it will be the same as everyone else.
So SUCKS TO BE YOU right back atcha…
@SnazzyD
Do understand that I DO have an official copy, go to PS3 fanboy and there is an article there explaining how somepeople have purchased thier copy already, from retailers who got the recall memo too late, besides these days, any glitch found in a game can be fixed with update data, even blu-ray games. I think you’re just jealous. Had none of these delays occured, then the copy I’ve secured would be considered official. You know not the knowledge you speak of.
Fools, I knowledge where you came from beebullbop.
