Unless you’ve been living in a cave (and with all the ugly stuff going on, we can’t truly blame you), you know that LittleBigPlanet is one of the hottest games out right now. However, one key feature, Play Create Share has been in a deactivated state since the game was released. This has led to this thread about it over on Sony’s official European message board.

Sam_Protagonist, Media Molecule’s Community Manager, said this and several other online features are not yet active due to stability issues. His exact quote:

“It’s not exactly broken, but it is deactivated at present.” ”Until we’re happy with server performance we’ve switched off a few online features, Play Create Share scoring being one, in order to help the service to remain stable. The good news is that we’re not far from reaching stability, so expect this to return soon. As soon as there’s an exact date for its return I’ll let you know.”

Given that LBP is a community / social game, the ability to use certain online features is disappointing. Just like in Call of Duty 4, it seems that game companies just don’t plan for the number of copies they sell. Sam_Protagonist has said that they are close to having stable servers so hopefully this functionality will be up and running shortly. We’ll keep you informed.
