Leaked survey details possible PSN Premium Services

According to Engadget, ‘someone’ has completed a survey for Sony which details services planned for the non-compulsory ‘premium’ PlayStation Network package confirmed by Kaz Hirai back in November

Subscription costs are unconfirmed at present, though pricing could be in the region of $20-$60 a year, or alternatively $6-$9 a month. While many PS3 gamers might be disinclined to pay for PSN services, the new scheme does boast an extensive number of new and appealing features. Extended console warranty, beta access, cross-game voice chat, loyalty programs and free access to PSOne Classics, PSP Minis, and PS3/PSP Themes are just a few of the perks that could one day be offered.

The accuracy of this information very much depends on the credibility of Engadget’s source, naturally, but the above does sound quite promising. That being said, though it’s encouraging that the PSN might one day give Xbox LIVE a run for its money, we pray Sony doesn’t forget that the best things in life are free.

it the free version stays the same as it is right now and the premium just has bonus stuff, then i'd be fine with that, but if it became like XBL i would be pissed because one of the main reasons i bought a ps3 is so the online wouldn't make me pay more in the long run

If it's optional then I'm ok and maybe I'll even try the premium sometime. I mean who doesn't like premium quality stuff right? Of coarse if this does happen lol

and this is one reason that makes PS3 better than Xbox not needing to pay for online services... if they do start charging, they wont be having part of my income...

Don't be a moron Ant. Yes, it all costs money, but Sony has had no problem providing the services we've had since launch for free, thus they should stay free.

If Sony wants to charge for new, improved, premium services, ok, but existing services should remain free and continue to be developed and supported. This isn't Microsoft we're talking about...

Um.. Actually You should charge for service..
You need Servers to run the games which means you need=$$
Servers run all day and night which means they need==$$
So its actually good they charge $$, or there wouldn't be XBL or PSN..

That will suck since that was my main reason for not going to Xbox360 in the first place. Will not pay to play when i already paid for the product to play in the first place.

Well as long as its optional i say more power to them, finally xbox fanboys will have to find another stupid excuse then "PSN is free so it automatically suks!" lol really guys. but anyways it seems like a good idea
