Peter Dille, SCEA’s Head of Marketing, recently stated at the M16 marketing conference that the Kevin Butler PlayStation 3 campaign is paying off. The new TV advertisements are doing a great job at highlighting the PS3’s great features. As a result, console sales are up, and consumers are much more aware of what the PS3 is capable of and has to offer. Plus, the ads are kind of funny.

Dille explained:

“The campaign is working to drive hardware sales [...] PlayStation 3 sales are up 184 percent in the three months following the price drop, and while a lot of that has to do with price itself, we know from research that consumers are more educated as well.”

He also mentioned that Kevin Butler will be featured in more of his TV Spots: “You’re going to continue to see Kevin Butler highlighting new content that is hitting the platform. That will include PlayStation Move later this year and also 3D,” he added.

I for one am a big fan of the Kevin Butler ad campaign, and feel these are a hugely better than the old crying baby in a white room campaign. Let's hope we see many more like them.

Kevin Butler is his name? Hmm... I like the ad about God of War III and the pissed off girlfriend is saying something along the lines of, "Mah boyfriend is totalleh distracted by this game where you fight gods and stuff." Kevin responds by playing god of war.
