Ah, we do love a good rumour…

PlayStation Insider recently posted that Sony and Mozilla have been ‘talking’, as per a tip-off from an external (and, might we add, anonymous) source. Could they be contemplating porting robust web-browser Firefox to the PlayStation 3?

This would be great news considering how many complaints Sony has received concerning the reliability and limited functionality of the current PS3 browser. However, a later added correction note states ’there was just a meeting between someone from PS division and someone from Mozilla’ – and nothing more, apparently.

The meeting had to be about something though, right? Perhaps if we cross our fingers and toes something along these lines might happen in the future.

    nope! playstationcenter.net contacted mozilla direct and they replied stating that “they are NOT making one and there was no meeting, they dont even know where the rumour started”

    i wish it was true but i doubt it.

    i cant even exit my browser with out my ps3 locking up.

    on top of that i had to pull my tv apart because the conductor on my video cable snapped off in my tv last night.

    Well, of course if you contacted mozilla and asked them about something like that their going to say we dont know anything about that, if adding firefox to ps3 was discussed with sony then sony would have asked them to be quiet about this.

    At least csreynolds had the foresight to label this ‘rumour’.
