Gundam Musou became the first PS3 game to surpass 100,000 units on first day. The Musou game, Dynasty Warrior franchise, set in Gundam universe has been highly hyped up by both Sony and Bandai Namco. According to Japanese blog Shinobi no Enmachou, around 70% of 170,000 ? 180,000 launch day shipment have been sold.

While the sales figure is certainly a good news, the same report indicates that most of the games were sold to existing PS3 owners. With hardware sales lagging behind Wii and DS, I?m sure Sony was counting on this game to give its hardware sales some much needed bump. Nevertheless, this is very encouraging news for Sony and Bandai to have the top selling game in Japan. The PS3 will get much needed bump as more and more marquee games hit the shelves.
