GTA IV Assorted Updates
We have quite a bit of new news on both versions of the game - though some of it seems more beneficial for PS3 owners. Lets start with the most important things - the PS3 version is slightly behind in developement, though both versions will still be released on the same day (April 25th in UK). Episodic content will be released, possibly for PS3 version too (woo!). The game runs at a constant 30fps - but considering the size of the city, the sheer amount of things you can do in any given area of it and such, that’s pretty good.
Now, to the smaller things. The PS3 version will have warmer colours whilst the 360 version will have more vibrant colours and the SixAxis will be used (in the PS3 version, obviously), but in a way that’s ‘right’. Heavily damaged cars will eventually stall, forcing you to get some bullet-dodging exercise, and tires will shred if they’re shot, which we’re sure will lead to some rather large crashes. You can also drop grenades out of the car, and cook them too.
If you press up on the D-Pad, it brings up the mobile phone, and pressing it again will bring up the key pad. There are several phones to acquire throughout the game, the most basic of which will have contacts, an organiser, a camera and multiplayer more, whilst an mp3 player will come with a better (and probably more expensive) model later in the game. On the radio, there will be a station that plays the recorded phonecalls that were made to Rockstar by players.
If you’re feeling particularly homicidal, you can kill anyone in the game, including your contacts though we presume you wouldn’t be able to get any missions from them afterwards, as they’ll probably be really pissed off. I know I would be, and the cheat codes that have been present in all the GTA games are back with a vengeance.
Last, but certainly not by any stretch of the imagination least, there is a possibility for a Massively Multiplayer Grand Theft Auto in the future. Now that sounds interesting, the possibilities with such a game are awesome, if not endless.
