Grand Turismo Academy Demo Impressions

Is this a demo for Gran Turismo 5? I still don’t know. I’m not a big fan of the Gran Turismo series anyway and I get the feeling that for me it will have to go some to unstick Dirt 2 as my driving game of choice. On the other hand this demo was pretty good fun as a few of us all went online to try and find out who could post the best time.

It looks good graphically and is realistic in its handling – so much so that everyone I’ve seen play it has skidded off the first corner muttering obscenities. I know that this ‘demo’ is meant as some kind of marketing thing with the Nissan tie in and the whole ‘win a place as a driver’ brings some interest but the entire Gran Turismo 5 thing is becoming a bit of an embarrassment. Is it even gonna arrive in 2010? Does anyone really care that much anymore? I’ll be really happy if they prove me wrong and come out with a great, top quality product but I fear it’ll be the best looking, most realistic driving game around and it won’t be any fun at all.

Well I'm with firedshot on this one.
I played GT5P when that came out was on a pad then, I thought it was ok but not the kind of game you did not want to put down.
I did the GT5 demo and to say it's been in the making for 5+years it's no better then GT5P. So theres going to be 1'000 cars and god knows how many tracks, a bad race game is still a bad race game however you dress it up.
it's a sham that thay did not go down the same road as supercar challenge, it's the best race game out there by a mile, so theres only 40+ cars. but better 40 cars that drive like cars than 1000 that drive like crap.

Have yet to play the game but it looked good on t.v so its worth a try

I was within the first 1000 when the game demo lunched but when I last checked It was 6320 So you might need to double check your time fire.

the game looked real and the graphics looked polished .
I am not sure if we can call this ademo or not but I still enjoyed it.
I hope the final product will prove many wrong .

The physics where rubbish not as good as an all out sim racer and to hard to be an arcade. Maybe there trying to fill the same market as Shift?

As for the graphics! I thought they were alwfull i put that down to the game only being a download/demo.

And before people get all funny saying you didn't do well with your time then. I got a top 100 time in the normal car :P
