How many of you have heard that Xbox’s Gears of War series might be coming to PlayStation 3? Actually, never mind, it’s not important, because the rumours have been officially nullified.

As reported by VG Arabia, Design Director of the Gears franchise ‘Cliffy B’ was a guest on Kotaku Radio recently and, when asked if the third-person tactical shooter would go multiplatform, his response was ‘there are no plans for any Gears on PS3 any time soon, which I can confirm’. In fact, Mr B’s ‘guts as a gamer’ tell him that it’s more likely a Metal Gear Solid title will reach Microsoft’s console before a Gears title reaches Sony’s.

We’d be interested to know whether his instinct was in any way influenced by the fact Metal Gear Solid: Rising, Hideo Kojima’s current project, was confirmed for Xbox 360 months ago…
