Gears of War 3 on PS3?
PSU recently reported on Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter’s bold prediction that the Mass Effect trilogy will soon appear on the Playstation 3. Pachter hasn’t stopped there, however, making yet another prediction that the huge XBox 360 series, Gears of War, may be headed to the far superior (our emphasis) PS3. He pointed out that Epic is very open to the PS3 platform by mentioning, “we pretty much know that Gears of War 3 is probably gonna’ come out on PS3.”
Pachter’s basis of testimony was that Microsoft probably inked a deal with Epic which will allow for only the first two games to appear exclusively on the Xbox 360, letting Epic do whatever they wish with the final game in the series.
While it’s a shame that those of us with PS3’s cannot at present time use a chainsaw bayonet to slice open the skull of a grub, there’s no doubt that by the time GOW 3 comes out, there will be plenty more, far cooler (read bloody) ways to separate an alien from their life. Of course this could all be so much rubbish. Just ask the analyst who advised Martha Stewart…

From all the online videos of the GOW developers, There is ZERO indication that they would make a PS3 version.
I own both platforms, ps3 and 360. Gears beats Fallen, but not by much. Of course Unreal will beat both.

Well, Reid, they HAVE talked about putting MGS4 on 360. I don’t think it will happen, and Hideo Kojima doesn’t WANT it to happen, but it’s all about money and Konami has thought about it.
It’s different with Gears tho, cause yeah, it’s probably locked down wiht an exclusive agreement. I hear MS is paying big cash for exclusives this gen, while Sony pretty much doesn’t do that at all (why GTA4 is hitting 360 on the same day).
It would be slightly illogical considering gears of war 2 is coming out on 360. Why would they suddenly release GoW 3 for PS3, it would piss off a lot of 360 “fanboys” and Epic would lose a lot of money, because not a lot of people are going to buy a PS3 (at like £400) just for gears of war 3 lol.

Mgs4 will never be ported to the 360 because it would take 7 dvd 9’s! ……c’mon….7! Now mgs5 (a prequel) is being developed for both xbox360 and ps3 (and of course it will not be as good) . Hideo will not be part of it. Gow3 on the other hand will be multiplatform , but not gow2, in the same fashion, it is owned by microsoft. Get ready to see some great content in a year and a half! Microsoft are paying BIG money to keep these games exclusive, and if they were to make Gears of War 3 on PS3, there would be less of a market so less profit would be made, unlike Microsofts Market.
In the end, Gears 3 will NOT be out for PS3, and for the PS3 Fanboys who wished it was, go round a Friends’ house who has Gears and have a go at it.

I doubt that gears of war 3 will come out on ps3 initially it may at some later stage but we shall see… Msg4 was licensed exclusively for ps3 so whether Mgs5 will be released on both consoles remains to be seen… As 4 the game not being able to put on a single disc i agree partially… If it ever comes out on Xbox 360 which i doubt it would only be a couple of discs due to playstation not even bothering to compress data at all so the size could be compressed down to fit on multiple discs yes but i doubt it would be like 5 or 6… However Mass Effect is a good example of how cut scenes full up discs which is going to be xboxs ultimate problem …As for blu ray being the future of games i disagree the future of movies maybe cause its just way overkill for movies as it as however games are getting bigger and bigger in a few years even blu ray wont be so great for games terabyte optical discs will be the solution for the future unless it all just comes down to downloads which is the most likely outcome for the future in most countries.

And the only sites that say this is a possibility is for PS3 fan sites which talk how great their superior system is. Gears of war will always be an xbox 360 exclusive. Cliff B. said that they love the hardware of the xbox and by my guess, it means no system change. If you want to play the epic game, you will just have to get an xbox.

I used to have a 360 and GoW, but then like most everything Microsoft makes, the xbox 360 broke, 7 times. So now I have a ps3 and would be happy if GoW3 would come out for ps3.

I own both a PS3 and a 360 (and a Wii, but that doesn’t matter), and i pray that it will never come to the PS3. It will increase the time it takes to create sequels. I am happy with the exclusives the way they are. Want Gears, go get a 360, want MGS4, go get a PS3 (and want Wii sport, go suck an egg). The Gears name is own by Microsoft, like the Halo franchise, and there is no way in hell that they would let it be ported over to the PS3. PS3 owners be happy with resistance 2, while we can be happy with Gears 2 (yes that’s right, i have both and i prefer by the 360 by far).

I agree. Gears of war is more of an xbox 360 game, like how final fantasy XIII is more of a playstation 3 game (yeah, xbox 360 doesn’t deserve it). So gears of war 3 should stay with the xbox 360.

Why would Microsoft sell off its next franchise? It is does come out with the next xbox, that would make sense. Hey, I own both systems and I have no preference either way. I really like both systems, but I like xbox live more than I enjoy the PS3’s online network. I really wish there were more games for the PS3, since MGS I haven’t bought one but thats not because I don’t to. There just aren’t any good games out there.

i think that is ridiculous. Gears of War is a strict Xbox 360 game. It coming out for PS3 is like Resistance coming out for XBOX360. It just should vere happen. I really hope they reconsider because Xbox can’t keep giving up its one console game series.

Personally, I own both systems, and quite honestly, you can only play MGS4 for so long. On the other hand, the “outdated, not even next-gen system” is enjoying more success and has much, much better games…I mean Halo, Gears, Fable, Ninja Gaiden, not to mention that MS has one of the best developers of all time on its side, Rare.

PS3 is trying to be too big. Its offering things we dont need yet. No one buys blu-ray, whats the point? dvds are more than capable of good quality films, and the price tag is more attractive. Ok, first of GoW3 will NOT be on PS3. if anyone paid any attention to the E3 Cons, or any interviews with the programmers and developers you would know that they opptimized GoW for the 360 and only the 360. There will be a GoW3, but thats where they are ending the series. As for releasing the trilogy on PS3, think of all the rework they would have to do. They would have to reprogram every aspect of the game for it to work on a blu-ray disc. Not to mention the fans of the series would probably not appreciate a solo tittle like that goin dual-platform. i know i wouldnt. The rework would require to much money and to much time and would not be profitable to microsoft or epic to do so. Now a cheap GoW knock off could make its way to PS3 but not the actual franchise. And in response to the Halo 4 comment. They are releaseing halo wars as kind of a sequel but not really and Halo3: Recon which will be an entirely different game that just happens to have a spartan (not master chief) fighting the covenent.

Would there be sufficient logic behind releasing two portions of a trilogy on solely one console and then releasing the final third on another one as well? What the fuck? I mean, for whoever argues the 360 has the ‘better games’, look at the Resistance series (only two games at the moment, but I like ’series’). It’s amazing. Plus a large chunk of the online community for the 360 is composed of noisy, bratty punks that find pride in slurring dick jokes and your mom jokes together with the word ‘assfuck’. Not much experience with the PS3, but there isn’t some sort of ‘dominant’ system that would slaughter the other in some sort of, obscure, game platform gladiator duel.
Gears won’t go to PS3. That’s ludicrous. MGS4 won’t go to 360. What happens, like with Bungie when they made Halo, is that Microsoft said “Here is your budget make us a game.” Without that budget there would be no Halo. Its like when a person hires a contractor to build their home. Yeah you could do it yourself but you’re better off hiring a company to do it.
As far as difference in system? Yeah PS3 is a great system. Great processor and decent graphics for a console, but it has a price tag to match it. The reason so many people buy themselves, their kids, or their families a 360 is because there is a flexibility of gaming. There’s a handful of games that younger kids can play and theres plenty for the teenage-adult range. Also at about $260

Also there has been a huge problem on the PS3 with backwards compatibility. Jagged lines and edges and they’ve even put out a system that is 100% not backwards compatible. Now I’m not sure if many of you remember the original Final Fantasy games but those were the golden days of Playstation. It is possible that GoW3 can go multiplatform, but M$ has a crap load of money to keep it exclusive. I doubt it will happen. Besides PS3 is having a better year in 2009 with the exclusive games leaking out(games never mention in E3 and stuff, 14 games not mentioned).
So lets say GoW3 is released multiplatform. By then, the PS3 will have loads of games to offer making GoW3 a fun game, but not awesome. GoW is good right now and it is in its glory. But once part 3 is released, it will be like Unreal3. Its fun but there is better games to play instead…..
What I know though is that PS3 will have its own Gears of War game. Not Gears of War, but the formula it has (gameplay, cover system, etc)…… Lets hope it doesnt suck cause ya know, imitations can be sooooo cheap and gay…. lol!

Ok im not a fanboy of either and i own both consoles and to be honest THEY ARE THE DAMN SAME!!!!! ps3 has stuff over xbox and xbox has things over ps3. Let me start off by saying that it is likely that Gears of War will come to PS3. Epic games reps were quoted saying how Epic loves the PS3 platform, because it is an open platform. They said this after releasing a timed exclusive by the name of Unreal Tournament III. Let us not forget that the unreal engine (the same one that was used in gears one) was used to produce UTIII. So, Epic games is familiar with the PS3 hardware.
Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that Epic signed a two year contract with Microsoft for gears, but that we will leave in the closet for now. Let us also not forget that Microsoft ripped Final Fantasy XIII from Sony(which is not that bad because Sony still has FFXIII Versus as an exclusive, which in my opinion looks better) and Grand Theft Auto 4. Microsoft paid big money for those games, and It was confirmed in an article I read that Sony may start paying money for some titles.
If we look at Sony in 2009 they have a mean lineup of games that not only revolutionize graphics on consoles, but also capacity. The list starts with Killzone 2 which is followed by God of War III, FF Versus, Uncharted 2, Gran Turismo 5, MAG, Heavy Rain, and more, Sony already has MGS4, Resistance (sort of weak), Socom, All the amazing PSN titles, and more. That is a list of some of the major games released or announced. I am not being biased here, but the major 360 titles are Mass Effect (the second installment is rumored for PS3), Bioshock (now on PS3, with the second installment most likely multiplatform), Halo, the Gears series, and Dead Rising. The only game Sony needs to pay money (if they have to) to get is Gears, and if they do that will shut Xbox360 down. Imagine all of the incredible PS3 titles combined with Gears and Blu-Ray all with the confirmed one-hundred dollar price cut…= PLAY B3YOND dynasty

While i appreciate your basically useless quote, what I stated were facts. You really mean to tell me that UTIII was not a timed exclusive and that because of it Epic is not farmiliar with the PS3 hardware? You suggest that the exclusives I named (while talking about a FUTURE amount of content) are not on their way? I guess Microsoft did not pay money for FFXIII then huh? I guess Epic really did not confirm their enthusiasim over the PS3. My argument was meant to show how it could be pheasiable for Gears to come to PS3 and how much value there is in the console. At the end of the day EPic, Microsoft, and Sony are businesses, and Epic WILL go where the money is. Here is a fact for you, companies place there titles under liscense agreements which means that whoever they choose to liscense their title to gets the rights to the content for a period of time.
Epic owns the Gears series, but we have reason to believe it was for two games, and the same (license agreement) goes for halo and mass effect. Mass Effect will more than likely go to PS3…just like Bioshock. My comments were not fanboy based (though I pefer PS3), I only looked at what is in my line of sight. It amazes me how people look at the present console wars and can’t see the trend. I\Everyone is giving Sony slack for lack of games, but what about PS2? When the PS2 came out it’s launch titles were garbage. I got one about a year after it released, but I was always in love with it, but why? It was the freshest thing on the market providing a new experience unlike any other on the market at the time. As the platform developed it slowly acquired titles, then ran rampant with quality titles around it’s second year in circulation. The Xbox released challenging the dominance of the PS2. The Xbox was marked by two amazing titles which were Forza and Halo. The Xbox also introduced quality online play to the consoles which was another selling point.
The Xbox after releasing Halo did not have another quality game series u til the release of the 360. The 360 totally replaced the xbox forcing xbox users that wanted to continue to enjoy the Xbox experience to go and buy a 360. The investment that consumers made in the 360 went down the tubes because Microsoft stopped the content flow which gave them a large consumer base to start with on the 360 (innagine that). The PS2 on the other han kept releasing quality material and games which lead to over 150,000,000 consoles sold world wide effectively making it the most sold console in history which is still selling today. A large majority of the Sony user base is still enjoying the PS2 getting every bi of their moneys worth out of the two-hundred dollar console. These amazing numbers include in them the major exclusive games we know on the Playstation platform today. In short Sony started weak and finished very strong. So when people throw numbers out like Microsoft has so many peple on live it is nothing but an over glorified forced number of people that wasted money. If you are to find Sonys numbers you might include PS2 users.
Sony is a business so as a business they made a wise business dicission which was to introduce blu-ray as the next gen media format. What better way then to include it in their next gen console. No one notices this trend because now online play takes center stage, and Microsoft has it on lock. Sony’s PS3 is being viewed as a sinking ship because of its numbers (which will change shortly as we talked about before), and its lack luster online service which is under two years in development. It is biased and painfully unprofessional to give Sony as much slack as the media has for their young online service compared to the initiators of online console gaming with at least five years of experience utilizing said service. And oh! Microsoft just happens to be a software company that specializes in such services and you mean to tell me with all that experience you give a hardware company (Sony) slack for HOME, the video store that already has half of Microsofts library up and going, Play TV, and more original content for free!!!! How do you make such an unprofessional comparison? Come on the real bias comes from the blind media.
Finally the PS3 will as the PS2 gain more speed as time goes on allowing users to get the most out of their console. I would rather be playing God of War 3, MAG, FFXII Versus, Killzone 2, Kingdom Hearts 3, Grand Turismo 5, Uncharted 2, and all the others to come on PS3 come 210 then still playing Gears 3, and Halo because I have nothing else to choose from. Now that is just me looking at the trends, blame history not me. Lets face it, if trends continue the cinario will look like this. Most people that have a 360 have an elite or premium 360 that are real gamers that care about any of this (most anyone that will ever here this are) which was at least four-hundred dollars. many that have a PS3 at most paid six-hundred. By the time xbox users buy a wireless adapter monthly prescriptions and HD drives(for those that did) will have paid in access of seven-hundred dollars that will be flushed down the tubes because they will be forced to get a new system in an untimely fashion. Meanwhile PS3 users will still be playing new and original content with more to come…let’s get real.

I actually have few friends of mine who hardly plays their PS3 console because they all said almost the same thing: THE GAMES ARE TOO BORING EVEN ONE OF THE HAS MGS4. Two of them bought an Xbox 360, and to my surprise. they even loved it more–more than the PS3 crappy-console. And they love playing both Gears of War 1 & 2…it’s true, dude! i own both consoles and they are great. the big problem with the 360 is the design flaw which causes it to overheat damaging internal hardwares therefore giving u RROD’s and other error s like E74 which pretty much messes up the console. it s lame hearing fights over which console is better.

I have been an avid gamer since before i could walk, even though im just 18 i have been around to see more or less of the entire video game race. From NES to PS3 from Sega Genesis to 360 i have had them all. and yes i do own both 360 and PS3. when i first got my 360 i went crazy and played halo and gears until my controller broke. Then i got a PS3, and cracked out on COD4.
Being someone that prefered an xbox over a ps2 i would have to say that when it comes to the controllers i will agree that the xbox does have a more shooter and racing feel because of the stick layout and the triggers, and the playstation for action and free roaming games with every button easy to reach and use.
Graphics wise the two next gen consoles have been relatively equal until about 6 months ago. when PS really capitalized on the blue-ray aspect along with the standard hdmi port on every PS3. The picture is just outstanding… personally i think that mirrors edge is the most visually spectacular game i have ever played.
now to Gears 2, i have never been so cold waiting for the midnight release for gow2, but when i got it i played and played and played….. and still played. Xbox has made this a complete turning point for their system. Originally Gears 1 was supposed to be for the PS3 because the people from unreal feel very comfortable with the endless possibilities that sony has to offer. But when halo 2 came out for the Xbox and they didnt seem to have anything else ready for when the long awaited 360 to come out they had to make something happen, so why not check out the upcoming games on the market. MS decided they would do whatever it took to get GOW to their console. If PS3 got the rights to GOW it would have been the end of 360 as we know it. What would have kept the 360 from shutting down if PS3 got it??? They just needed a game to keep people playing 360 and paying for XBL until Halo 3 came out… Now look at them!!! they have two ENORMOUS titles that have die hard fans begging for just the smallest hint of when the next game could come out.
Nobody knows the future, not even the people making the games because everybody needs to just remember this, there are no hard feelings in the world of business, only money… anything can happen for the right price remember that people!!

gears 2 is probably one of the best games ever released and there is probably no point in releasing it on ps3. i have both ps3 and 360 and my favourite game is gears series. if xbox didnt have gears that doesnt mean thats the end of xbox. u can get the same games on xbox like u have on ps3, eg call of duty, fallout. even so if it came on ps3 xbox would still have it!! even so people would rather buy 360 as it is chepaer and offers the same stuff like ps3 except for the blu ray and better avatars. also youll have to start paying for ps3 online and xbox is going free. shows microsoft is decent coz it doesnt need money. gearas of war will always be 360 formnat. if epic was a good developer then they would keep it on the 360

ok. i’ve got both a PS3 and a 360. Gonna just throw this out there that they’re both good systems in their own rights. Now, as for this story, sorry team, but it’s utter crap. As has already been stated, the Gears series is created by Epic, which is in turn owned by Microsoft. In other words, Epic has no say in whether or not to put it on a Sony console. and i highly doubt Microsoft would let their best game (yes, Gears is infinitely better than Halo, or any other game on the 360) go to another system. as for MGS4 being ported to the 360, that’s… highly unlikely. and it would be a ridiculous move. but, as i don’t work for either company, i don’t know anything for certain, so we’ll just have to see what happens.

Ugh, I hate fanboys of anykind. Both systems are good, companies need exclusive games to make conical sales. If both systems had all the same games it would then simply be a matter of do you want the cheaper less advanced system, or the more expensive more technologicaly advanced system. I am not here to argue which system is “better” compair the spec.s of both yourself. PS3 is better in just about every way, except it has not been out as long as the xbox 360, so developers have not had as long to get to know the system. Not to mention that there was a bigger jump between the PS2 and the PS3 vs. the xbox and the xbox360, so there is more to learn as a developer. So in that case some xbox 360 games can be better. Point of fact, it is always going to be easier to upgrade a game to a faster system, rather than downgrade a game to a slower one. Not to mention the amout of data you can put on a blue ray disc vs a standard DVD. But the problem with porting games over to a new system that is Microsoft and Sony have a deathgrip on their exclusive contracts, and it will probably stay that way. And that is a shame, why should the consumers have to buy both conicals to get the hottest games? Then again, if all games were made for both systems, I am pretty sure PS3 owners would not be getting their money’s worth out of a game and the system. The game would be created to be able to work on the hardware configuration of the lesser system, and then slightly tweaked to work on the other. Take it or leave it, it is what it is. Everyone has their personal preferece, and that does not mean the other guy’s system sucks. Leave the competition to the companies. Last time I checked they are not paying us to advertise for them. And neither were running for political office, so no need to bash the opponent.
On another note, I think Microsoft has gotten enough of my money from their PC software sales, and after getting a laptop with Vista pre-intalled on it, I am kind of turned off on buying anything new from Microsoft for a while. I really think that they need to make Windows 7 a free upgrade for anyone that owns a computer with Vista, even if it is only an upgrade program like they had when vista first came out for “Vista ready” computers purchase withing a year of the release date of the new OS. I hate Macs too, so don’t think I am that guy. Although my iPod will kick the crap out of any Zune. LOL

PS3 is far more of a media machine which has some pretty good exclusives of its own MGS4, KZ2, etc.
360 also has some pretty good games of its own Gears 1 + 2 for example.
But honestly, I dont care that I’m not going to get a Gears game for my PS3, i have a PC for that when it’ll come out in a years time whilst Sony aren’t going to port all of their games to the PC because they’re not Microsoft a.k.a massive PC software manufacturer.

Ok so first off everyone who says no1 buys bluray they are just poor and jealous they cant watch the most pristine picture out there and second ps3 is waay better and waaaay more powerful it takes time to develop the nastiest of nasty games haters and third a simple spec breakdown ps3 has cell which has 8 cores running at 3.2ghz each xbox has a custom power pc core with 3 cores at 3.2ghz im not to good at math but it looks like ps3 basically has 2 and a half times the processing power of xbox and as for graphics xbox has a floting point performance of 1 t-flop and as for playstation you gessed it twice as good running at 2 t-flops so suck it 360 and all you haters and ps3 has 60 players on r2 with no lag gears 2 has 10 people and its garbage im pretty sure thats y they would hold off on gears 3 for ps3 because it would be a much better game with no lag and prolly 20 people i love you playstation as for xbox you know what you did you basically stole money from your comsumers when u put out a trashy system at least with playstation you get your moneys worth and any1 else think elite is a really poor ps3 wannabe why go black like ps3 i know its cause you wanted the cell and you didnt get it and you wanted to be ps3 but you are not and never will be even close to the ps3

Also, I found no difference in both consoles, the only difference is the exlusive games. The 3 games which I would have loved to see on PS3 are Left 4 dead and Gears1&2. If gears came on ps3 I would definitely buy it, but there is no chance of it coming on the ps3.

I just love how biased and misinformed everyone is regarding the xbox 360 and ps3 graphics (then again, this a ps3 website). They are the same. I see no reason why the ps3 is getting GOW 3. If anyone has ever bothered to look, Gears of War 2 took up about 6.7 gb of disk space. The DVD 9 limit is 8.5 gb. This leaves plenty of room for expansion. Also they keep finding better compression methods.
Besides, the leading Gears of War 2 developer (forgot exact name look it up i guess) already stated (exact wirds) “I hate the fucking ps3 controller”.

It is rumoured that as epic games are making this finale in the trilogy so ‘EPIC’, that the Xbox 360 disc wil not be able to hold the ausomeness of its content (able to hold by blu ray), so it may come out on the PS3. On the other hand, there is a rumor of the ‘Xbox 720′ or a consle like that coming onto the market, which will be as good as the PS3, and would probably be promoted nicely by GOW 3! Looking at the facts and rumours, I would say that there is a 30% chance that it will come out on PS3, and a 20% chance that it will be on the new Xbox console.
if you bring Gears of war 3 on the PS3, why not bring god of war 3 on the 360.

Never thought I would see Mario and sonic in the same game so never say never. Xbox live is a joke I let my subscription run out because the service was not worth 50 dollars a year more than the psnetwork. I own both but I would like to see what it would look like on a graphically superior system where the developer actually tried to take advantage of the abilities and didn’t just develope one set of graphics for both systems (ea, and activision especially, I can tell you in all honesty the 360 will never touch the ps3 in that arena. Just look at mgs4 for proof of that) with all that said the ps3 is really coming into it’s own and this year it will pull away easily in sales, selection of good games, and it strutting it’s capabilities. Plus I am on my original ps3 serial # 6XX (yes it was among the first batch sent to America) while I am on my third 360.

Look seriously, PS3 exclusives vs Xbox360 exclusives, Xbox wins hands down (It’s really not even a contest, Gears, Fable, Halo vs Uncharted Killzone and Rachet and Clank…). Sony’s a better built system, it’ll come out with lots of cool stuff in 2010. But dont expect Gears to be one of them, lol, go QQ to Epic some more fanboi’s maybe they make a new Unreal game for you.
Gears of War 3 is very possible for Sony. Think of it this way, Metal Gear and Final Fantasy were strictly for sony, but now are making there way to the xbox. I think it would be an awesome idea, personally I think microsoft and sony would both profit greatly if they would share games with eachother.
